Some folks have been trying to mock supporters of Tinubu because of the price jump in petrol occasioned by the removal of subsidy. You hear comments like there is a queue for APC supporters and another for Obidients.

For the avoidance of doubt, anyone who follows the events in the country would know that since the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) was signed in 2021 to open up investment in the oil and gas industry, it was only a matter of time for subsidy to be removed. After a lot of postponement, June 30th was the next proposed date.

If a lot more people spent more time following up the news, trends and events rather than listening to fake statistics, they would be better prepared,

Infact, the only reason it was not removed before now was the refineries weren't working and fortunately Dangotte refinery was already billed to take off soon.

So, trying to blackmail the supporters of Tinubu with fuel price increase is an exercise in futility. they have already factored the increment in price of petrol into their expectation. The only thing we are waiting for is for Dangotte refinery to kick off.

If Dangote refinery starts operations, you will find a lot of investors both local and foreign will now begin to tap into the oil and gas industry, both upstream and downstream.

So, keep your blackmail to your whatsapp group.

Removing fuel subsidies is the right way to go. We can only hope for the best turn-out of events going forward.

If it's the right thing to do, why did Tinubu and his ilks opposed it's removal during Goodluck Jonathan regime

If only they had allowed GEJ, we would have gone very far down this path.
