The elections have come and gone and wait and expectations for the handing over left everyone with uncertainty of what the future held for the nation.

We didn't have to wait too long as during the handover ceremony, the new President caught Nigerians unaware with the shocking revelation of "Subsidy is gone, there's no provision for it in this Year's budget"

And by the next day, pump price across the country had been readjusted to reflect the now reality and the NNPC which had erstwhile maintained there weren't plans to increase pump price of the product amidst the scarcity released a template for prices across the country.
The coming days would witness the sad reality of petrol now selling between N488 to N557 a litre across the Federation as most Nigerians groan under the new burden of increased transportation fares and increased cost of running businesses as almost every business in every sphere of life here depends on petrol with the precarious electricity situation in the country.

However, there seems to be some obvious error which Nigerians and the government seem to have ignored. The previous govt signed the 2023 budget into law and clearly indicated that provisions would be made to pay subsidy for the first half of the year only. A critical look at the budget, the various reports and briefings from the govt on the budget and subsidy issue clearly shows that over $7billion was allocated for the payment of subsidy for the first half of the year. That's about $1.2billion a month for 6 months. The first half of the year is clearly from January to June but somehow the incoming govt claims there was no provision for subsidy payment in the budget it met. Did the new President make an obvious error? What happened to the subsidy allocation for the month of June now that the removal came into effect at the end of May? These are the many questions Nigerians should be asking. As for the NNPC, there's a whole lot it needs to explain to Nigerians top of which is how and who they paid subsidy claims to since they've been the sole importers of Petroleum into the country since 2016 and have not remitted a dime into the Federation account for majority of last year.

Political class are after their pockets. Anybody from the political class supporting the subsidy removal thing is clearly speaking for his pocket.
All are because of what they stand to benefit personally. They don't care about you one bit.
I bet you this subsidy money will have no single effect on the nation, I pray it has but these people are terrible beings, trust them at your own peril. This money will still go to their pockets, impoverishing the already poor masses and suffering them at the same time
