Please you have to go back there. Check the length of road from the University into town - you will never go back to Benin.

you think this is sarcasm? Anyone moving out of Rivers State will appreciate the beauty of good roads. I could not use Delta State cos i know  the roads was constructed by  James Ibori.

I careless of the dimensions. All in all i had a good ride or do you want me to compare the roads side by side with yhat of Rivers State.

There was no chaos at all! Functioning traffic lights, traffic warders on alert. . .very peaceful environs.

When I said length of road, I mean the entire road. Noone is talking about dimension.

Deep gorges, flooding etc - man, you will be ashamed the town is a state capital. and I am talking just three weeks ago.

LOL.

Ok - New Lagos Road is being fixed, from Akpakpava Road junction up to Textile Mill Road Junction. But from Textile Mill road junction on the Shagamu Express way all the way to the University gate and beyond, ask anyone in Benin, that stretch is what I mean by the entire length, I dont know what dimensions has got to what I am talking about. You will be amazed to even think that is Benin city. Ask anyone. Same goes for Auchi Road - eyesores.

Thank God I didnt study Mechanical Engineering.

The pictures don't really match the tone of the thread.

That said, Oshiomhole is still definitely making a real effort.

Much of the criticism of him was just about university fees - which is basically just people having trouble adjusting to having to pay for the actual worth of their education, and not any sort of screw up on the governor's part. Education should be subsidized, but only to a certain (financially responsible) extent.
Re: Edo State Is Changing(pics). Kodus To Comrade Adams by Rhino4dm: 1:59pm On Oct 01, 2011
The general apperance of the roads are in good shape couple with the presence of heavy construction machineries littered around the state.

This was just a scoop out.

Adams Oshomole is doing well, The only problem he has, like most state governors, are the contractors. They are either behind schedule on their construction project or rush the job. Luckily he has fired a couple of contractors already and will reward new contracts. link

Does it occur to you that the road you mention is a Federal Government trunk A road which has already been awarded to Reynold's Construction Company (RCC) by FG, but RCC decided to start the road from Ondo State end - Ore - to be precised.

The five junction is currently be designed and about six roads all encompassing that junction with the drainages will be worked on.

The pic the poster is showing is
1.Oba Market road
2.Sapele road, ring road Axis

I think the governor has done more roads in the villages than in the city.

I am aware of a road he is constructing cutting across over 200 villages!

The Auchi road you mentioned is also FG Trunk A road which FERMA claims is handling. Oshiomhole has requested FG to allow for expansion of that road from by-pass down to Ramart Park with FG paying the state back and He was told he can't!
The FACTS remain that NONE of the Federal road in the state is motorable!

When you look at the revenue to Edo State from the Federal account nearly N36bn, compared that to Rivers N226bn, Akaw-Ibom N126bn for the last 6-months to date, you would give kudos to the Edo governor. More worthy of his commendation is that He has been able to drive IGR from N300m to N1.2bn monthly! That is why He can do what He is doing.

On one of the pic the poster showed, you would see the new 120bed hospital He is building. Phase two we are told will follow after completion of phase one. Also, 3-model schools each in the 3 senatorial district are now being developed. This is outside the massive school renovation which is going on in the state and I must tell you when I saw one of the staff room,it reminded me of the staff rooms in the British Academy in England -lush!-

Those complaining about Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma fees are unfair to themselves and to future generations. The average private school fees in Edo State is around N40,000 per term! AAU needs serious upgrading and the government wants to invest in the school but then asking students to pay N12,000 or N18,000 would be an under service to the future generation. Why borrow money to upgrade the school for this present generation only for them to offer peanuts back? At least asking them to pay N60,000 or N70,00 per session I think is a fare bargain. Let the truth be told; Formal Education with quality doesn't come cheap!

In summary, Oshiomhole ha tried given the resources at his disposal but there is still more to be done to change the face of Edo State. The citizens need complete reorientation in attitude to government property-oh well one can say that just about any state in Nigeria!

This thread is sickly misleading , I was in Benin last week for a retreat and I didn't see one good road , the only thing that looked like a good road there was one sapele road ::: every one on our entourage comPlained about the state of the roads in the capital. Pls the OP should fear God and stop this nonsense , even the road to the govt house was laden with potholes. The govt needs to move fast and fix those roads
Re: Edo State Is Changing(pics). Kodus To Comrade Adams by Rhino4dm: 8:37pm On Oct 01, 2011
I think you are the sick one here , go see a doctor very fast.

What about the following roads
1.Sakponba road
2.Akpapava road
3.New Lagos Street
4.Second East/West
5.Gani Fawhemi layout
6.Dawnson-Uselu nearing completion

FYi, Oshiomhole told the citizen that for now He will not construct any of the roads in the GRA axis of which the government house also belongs but that He will fix them once He concludes the drainage design as over 80% of the roads in GRA neither have drainages properly connected to the moats and rivers!

Look, lets not kid ourself, no body is saying Oshiomhole has tarred all the roads in Edo state, but rather He has taken up the challenge of upgrading the major roads to standards which many thought is never possible in the state after the reign of the era of Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia.

Like I said before, much of road construction are in the villages outside of Benin as Oshiomhole said since much of the food produce grown in the villages loose thier worth while been transported through bad roads to the cities and beyond and others rotten 'cos of bad road network, He would make effort to connect the villages, towns, cities with good roads and I am aware He has done over 500km roads of high standards.

What is happening to Airport road. The contractor is doing a good job but i hear the govt revoked the contract for political reasons. Adams might be good but he is too vengeful. Remember what he did to those commissioners who lost their areas to PDP in the last election.
Adams finish airport road please

Take it from someone who's disgusted by Tinubu's ACN and their brand of politics; its Reality. Oshiomhole has done wonderfully well and changed the face of that state in such a short while.
Re: Edo State Is Changing(pics). Kodus To Comrade Adams by Rhino5dm: 7:25am On Oct 02, 2011
Go check out my post and show me where i defended Tinubu. There are only 2 reasons why i would ever have anything to do with Tinubu

1. He "planted" result oriented politicians and they have been doing very well.

2. He try to check the excesses of the ruling party.

I will never loose s sleep because Tinubu is charged and found guilty or jailed. We just have to call a spade a spade. Am not a card carrying member of any political party. i started off with CPC and quickly move to ACN(support only!) due to my personal convictions of their ability to bring the change needed to tranform this country.

I dont expect any gain from anybody, cos am gainfully and capable of independently providing food on my table. so, for me is just trying to create a balance in the game. cool cool

As per James Ibori, he did very well in areas of tranforming Delta state. Though, he was engulfed with alot cases of corruption which will make one wonder how Delta would have look, should those monies are properly utilize. The present Governor of Delta cannot match a feet of Ibori in terms of developments. you should know better if i assumed you are truely Deltan as you claimed.

I have my reservations, and i can never support criminality in any shape.

Until he is convicted by competent courts of law.

When you in charge then you have imploy any means of getting the work done. Am not advocating a munipulated results from the polls or whaever his reasons might be, but any good administrator should be able to walk the talk.

You have to blunt and if possible brute to change the lackadaisical attitude of Nigerians that have been subjectet to pschological trauma by past administrators.

^^^ What I think prolly doesnt matter but for the records, IBORI DIDNT DO VERY WELL IN DELTA STATE, At least not better than Uduaghan. I'm not holding brief for Uduaghan as i believe he's just as confused as his cousin was but I just feel irked when i hear folks compare both, there are no basis really.
