Kcgeology:
Lightening tend to strike the tallest point in a given vicinity. That's why it's not advisable to be in the open on rainy days. If lightening charges pass within the vicinity of an open field, you that is standing becomes the tallest point and therefore prone to get struck. Also being in contact with metallic conducting bodies during lightening is also not advisable

Thunder keep striking the wrong person's.

What about the immediate past minister of petroleum, who was minister of petroleum for 8 years and no refinary worked in this country, yet he spent trillions on refinary that was not working.

Thunder should stop wasting it's bullets.

RIP to the dead.

So sad.

Do our fields need Lightening Protectors, like our houses do ?

This is because the Protectors deflect lightening to the highest place possible, which is where the Protector is usually placed.

A referee identified as Mustapha Bello was killed after being struck by lightning during a friendly football match in Madalla town, Niger State, IGBERETV reports.

Mustapha Bello, member of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFA) who was popularly known as Mustafa Coach 02 among football fans, met his tragic end on Tuesday evening, June 13, 2023, during the match played in the community’s primary and secondary schools’ field.

The match in which Suleja and Madalla youths participated, was on half time break around 5:20 pm when the incident happened.

“It was raining and all the footballers along with their fans were taken refuge inside the school’s classrooms. The referee along with his assistant (line man) rushed back to the field, demanding the players to join them,” an witness explained.

"They were only at the centre of the pitch when the thunder struck. Two of them were rushed to a hospital, where the referee was confirmed dead on arrival while his assistant was revived.”

A family member of the deceased identified as Ibrahim, said Ibrahim was buried Wednesday morning in Suleja town where he lived.

Mourning the deceased, a Facebook user, Awwal Yarima wrote;

Very tragic. While you might hold others views, it's purely an accident. May Allah grant him aljanat Firdaus.

It is not PURELY accidental.

There are scientific and traditional claims to it too.

According to a Yoruba course i studied about the gods, sango is the most precise attacker among the gods, hardly makes mistake to kill and wound the wrong person not sent to. You only need to stire it's anger on the behave of the person you want to deal with and tell the diety that the person force you to do it. The danger is that the person you want to attack must actually do something wrong to you or to some that gave you the assigment. But we were told that the mode of operation is that Lightning target middle or centre of anywhere it struck. If you notice the thunder is about to strike, run away from the centre of the road path, main road, open house without roof, entrance or open field. Just make sure you are not at the centre of the space. Yoruba will say. Ogangan ona ni alake n so. This means he patiently wait for the victim to be at central of a place where the attack and dealth will be seen by all and lead to disgrace. I doubt if all this are true though. It's just like a story to me.
Thanks for this.... I have wondered the meaning of the adage you wrote there for a long time until now. Ogangan ona ni alake ń sọ.

Meanwhile, wherever the deity is placed, no one should swear falsely by it if that person is indeed guilty, na death o.... Happens especially when such person have forgotten about it. Also, na for open space he go bring the person come for all to see..

I even heard a story from a reliable source that when one man was killed by lightning after a false swearing, his little girl who was around when her father took a bucket outside to get rain water claimed to see an elderly man with large eyes pulled her father from the back. Well, the man's chest got burnt and he could only utter that, "they've placed goods on his head, he's already hawking" (wọn ti gbé ọjà lé un lórí, òun ti ń kiri ọjà) and he gave up the ghost.

Many tinz dey happen.

The lightening struck him because of the metal whistle on his chest. Lightning is electric current and looks for metal to conduct with.

Hello
Please, what do you mean by highest point?

Highest point in this case simply means the Tallest Object in an area a Lightening Bolts strike. Could be a Tree, a House, a Human, a Cow etc which stands tallest in such an area of strike.

That is why Tall Building have Lightening/Thunder Arrestors installed.
