ODUNWA SPEAKERSHIP HERALDS THE GOOD FORTUNE IN LEADERSHIP THAT HAS BEFALLEN EBONYI STATE IN THIS DISPENSATION - Ugonna Utulor

The biblical Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt against all odds. His faith firmly rooted in God and his hope not shattered by the behemothic disappointments encountered, he remained resolute in his quest till the foreclosure of the emancipation of his people.

On June 13, 2023 members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly elected Rt. Hon. Moses Odunwa as Speaker of the legislature's 7th Assembly. Like the biblical Moses, he has a huge task before him: ensuring Ebonyi State House of Assembly achieves legislative excellence by sustaining and improving on the legislative vigour of the 5th and 6th Assembly without suffering the legislative emasculation experienced in the earlier Assemblies.

Moses Odunwa's character, competence and capacity forecloses any doubts in his ability to make the Ebonyi State bastion of democracy best in the 36 states of the federation. The new Ebonyi House of Assembly Primus inter pares has a persona and demanour that makes him a natural winner. Humble, selfless and given to reason without the egoistic inclinations of some, he would provide needed stability for the government, forging a lasting partnership between the executive and legislative arms that will engender the kind of results-oriented governance that Ebonyians crave.

A peep into his antecedents easily reveals his person. The orderliness and tranquility that have followed him from the lower rungs of society to his current status as State Chief Lawmaker won't suddenly take a flight. Given to a pursuit of the common good even if to the deteriment and jeopardization of his personal interest, Ebonyians have in Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa a Speaker that will never rest till the best interest of the people is protected.

Odunwa is a man of refreshing candour, and his election, like the election of His Excellency Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as Governor, can only yield positive results for Ebonyians. He comes with years of studious experience, having begun his momentous career as a classroom teacher before his involvement in grassroots politics.

These preparatory years spent learning the ropes of leadership shaped his compassionate, selfless and philanthropic mindset, and instilled in him ideals for the long run. Today he stands shoulder higher with the best of leaders, and will certainly give Ebonyi State House of Assembly the best leadership one can imagine.
