Labour must not sell out at this time. This Political criminals should not transfer the responsibilities of their inefficiency to the Nigerian people. 1. 50% subsidy removal followed by going after subsidy thieves and closing out boarders to stop outgoing refined products to neighbouring countries. Final subsidy removal after dangote and other refineries come on stream and the power sector is fixed. 2. No need floating the exchange rate. Remove the FX restrictions, slightly devalue the naira and bridge the gap between official and parallel rates 3. No need taking away the funding for tertiary education. FG can get involved directly in improving standard of education without transferring the burden to the masses. Any government that has the masses at heart has options to explore 2 Likes |

Those that find it hard to pay there house help or shop help 20k are here demanding 150k from the government as MINIMUM wage we ain't ready for this conversation yet

3 Likes 1 Share |

This Subsidy removal is the right step, but the fallout has not been properly managed! There is no easy way about turning Nigeria around, but you can't just ask suffering people to suffer beyond their already pitiable states! The only people cushioned against subsidy removal are the very wealthy, who happen to be less than a tenth of this Nation's population! This is unacceptable!!! |

NLC should be careful with Gbaja, ASUU can tell NLC, about how the deceived them to return to work, but later informed them that he did not promise them anything. So they should not fall to his mischievous. |

The Ajaero should know that all eyes are on him. Raising minimum wage should be total for fg,state and Lg workers and not just a fed govt law applicable only to fed workers and leaving states and lgas to source for money for the new pay on their own which is unrealistic. Payment augmentation to states should come from fed govt and shldnt be left for states who can't even pay 30k minimum wage in many states . If fg govt can't meet paying all Nigerian workers the new minimum wage, then it should bring back oil subsidy. |

hafeeanubasy: 1. Put forth a bill protecting workers rights in both private and public organization! This will compel Private practices to replicate everything FG is doing for their workers. 2. Sequel to the above, there should be reduced working days for all workers especially those earning less. Most can be converted to remote or hybrid. 3. Extend resumption of schools this coming academic session. 4. Release mass buses for workers in public and private. You get in with an ID. Of course, these ought to have been put in place before removing the subsidy! 1 Like |

Depriest2020: Do us a favour sir. Tell us the total number of workers we have in Nigeria (let's limit it to Federal Government workers) then multiply the figure by 200k let's check something. By the way, back to NLC's threat of going on strike, I hope the so called NLC is aware Nigerians no longer take them seriously any more |

Isobug: You forgot to add that a yeriba man left about $60 billion in the reserve despite clearing debt and the economy was very buoyant as at the time of Jonathan. The same yeriba man met $5.5 billion in the reserve with a large unserviceable debt as at May 29, 1999. After two American Presidents visited Nigeria under a Yeriba man, in 2008, oil jumped to $108/barrel. As at May 29, 2015, Jonathan saved no Kobo, not even 1 kobo, spent everything they made, spent estimated $25 billion from the money Obasanjo (Yeriba) left and borrowed heavily and even borrowed to pay salary despite selling oil up to $135 per barrel while our output was 2.2millions barrel per day. Their Minister of Finance is recognized in the book - Thieves of State: Why Corruption Threatens Global Security a Book by Sarah Chayes. If the economy was as bad as it is now, nobody would have disturbed them from subsidy removal. Though, I supported Jonathan's subsidy removal as at that time and fought on his side being from minority tribe I would have regretted my action as the IBOs would have still spent and looted everything. Tinubu met a nation that is almost dead with nothing left. Nigeria shall rise again. If the labour supports Nigeria to be borrowing money to finance subsidy and pay salary they should proceed on strike immediately. |
