The Nigerian government and main labour unions have reached an agreement to finalize an increase in the minimum wage within an eight-week timeline. This development comes in response to the impact of high fuel prices following the removal of a costly petrol subsidy. The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress had threatened to strike as fuel prices tripled under President Bola Tinubu’s subsidy removal decision.
