GoodGovernance: You don't understand his point. Our local rice are more expensive than foreign rice. What makes foreign rice appears more expensive is the custom officers. If they are allowed to come in freely, they are far cheaper. Countries producing them are into mechanized farming. So the cost of production is lower. 1 Like 1 Share |

pedel:For how many years now, that the border has been shut against food importation, has the price of rice reduced? Instead, the price has been jumping off the roof. US, Canada, UK, Australia etc import food massively into their country despite being a heavy producer. How many farmers can go to the farm to cultivate in this high rate of insecurity? Food importation affects forex, but the major factor behind naira devaluation is the importation of fuel with dollar. Importing over 60 million barrels of refined petrol for daily consumption locally is crazy, which I'm sure isn't up to that anyway, but some unpatriotic idiots have hidden behind the shady deals to suck Nigeria dry. If the system is cleaned up and loop holes blocked, food importation should have less negative impact on our currency. |

Wickedness in high places what did buhari achieved by the closure? Nothing was achieved. When you surround yourself with wicked people like you just to make people suffer and cut import duties due to the government for 8 years. I hope the new government will learn not to follow their mistake. |

FreedomArmy: Exactly! What's the point if local rice sellers just greedily skyrocket the price as they like because they know Nigerians have got no choice...Also they've failed to improve on the quality just because they know there is no choice... Let Tinubu allow the Important at certain quantity per annum to put our local producers on the feet too... Nigeria will be great again! |

Hi GAZZUZZ, Does this mean that the prices of Toks cars in Nigeria will crash? And are you into sales of Toks from Benin Republic? I plan getting 011 Camry but the pegged price at 5/5.5m I'm seeing it ain't encouraging at all. Is there hope for a price crash? |

pedel: The purpose has been defeated. If the border is not open to food stuff, the inflation on food stuff will be alarming due to the fuel subsidy removal. The best way to reduce the inflation is to open the border and intensify efforts on local produce |
