chy101:

@ OP, please don't be angered, can you please show us any capital investment in Imo state, I think that is the real dividend of democracy; development does not start and end with constructing a few KM of roads in the urban area, what about the rural areas? Well that is by the way, I think Imo state should go beyond mere road painting (only in Owerri) to investing in areas that can improve the state economy and its IGR just like its neighbors are doing, attracting investors that can invest in meaning ventures possibly (production/manufacturing) that will employ the youths gainfully and not building hotels here and there. What has come out of the job offer by the past government, where people were asked to pay 10k for application form

The purpose of this thread is just to show Owerri in pictures and not to portray Imo state as the richest state in Nigeria. I am only showing the beauty of owerri through these pictures, nothing more.

@ poster, that is owerri. The problem with most people in NL forum is they hate to see beautiful pictures of other states. If the poster had sent dirty picture, those who are making all these noise will say YES that is Owerri. I live in owerri. Ikenegbu layout to be precise. The pictures are all in owerri. Nobody can change it. Appreciate good things, it will com to you soon. Hypocrisy begats hatred & hatred begats stagnancy!

I don catch the poster of these pix. The pix: owerri13.jpg is one of ohakims achievements on billboard but never achieved. Thats the proposed orji roundabout nd its far from completed.

@all, appreciate something good oooo. I am in de city now, and i can testify it is indeed a lovely place. Learn to appreciate good things Nigerians! Stop having a WOE mentality. For all those saying poverty this & that, how more pathetic and unreasonable can you sound? If it were pictures of London or the USA, none of you will remember to ask for their GDP. Grow up! Appreciate your own., and quit the 'good person outside, devil within' type.

this is photo magic, it can be deceitful, besides, you did not label the pictures to describe which parts of the city the pictures covered.

@freecocoa. . . You're very correct. I school in Owerri too. Infact, my school is located right in the city. The clean and green photo is a political photo by Ohakim to show the world how IMO STATE is developing in terms of infrastructure. There is nothing spectacular and elegant about Owerri. Nothing can ever bring me back to this state after my first degree

So, this is all you can say about a state that offered you admission and accommodated you?

Most of our people can't even concentrate to study in most northern states.

What of the peaceful nature of owerri? Have there been any form of ethnic or religious disturbance since you gained admission in owerri or even in the history of owerri/imo?

You school in the heart of the city, have you taken time to move around and check out the state or are you just a triangular student?

I know those who are saying this are people who left lagos (where their friends are) to study in owerri.

Truth be told Owerri has developed really slowly, Real Estate in this part has being really slow (wonder why?). I like the idea of a new Owerri to direct commerce, Douglas road is terrible. Owerri has old city problem but they can take a cue from Asaba Nnebisi road.

BTW Was that the cathedral in Green n white? that is terrible, iconic building but with the wrong colors and road that doesn't help its beauty angry
Re: Owerri, Imo State In Pictures by nagoma(m): 8:27pm On Oct 11, 2011
Except for Douglas Rd there no people in all the pictures! Where are the people?

This is what i call constructive criticism. Very sensible.

Others are here rattling, telling me how they school in owerri and all whatnot.

@chamber2. . . The truth must be told. Those clean and green photos are political and in terms of infrastructure Owerri is backward. I've been in this state for 4years now so I know what I'm saying, like it or hate it that is the truth. We're talking about the photo you posted here not about being grateful for staying and schooling in IMO STATE.

You are very lucky. Some people wrote and passed those exams but were denied admission. You can as well tear your certificate

They are wicked people and yet you live to tell your story, dumb!

I guess you are in or graduated from futo? No wonder!

I live in Owerri, Mbaise Road to be precise, and my office is at Ama-Hausa, along Douglas Road.
I can tell that those pictures are real except for two or three that are proposed projects (already going on)
However, dont be deceived that there are no people on the street because there are some places that you cant just walk freely because of human traffic,
and some other places are also not where to be when its going to be vehicular hold-up day. IF YOU KEEP TO THE MAJOR ROADS (federal government roads)YOU MAY NOT HAVE MANY BAD ROADS TO DRIVE ON, THOUGH SOME PLACE CAN SWALLOW A WHOLE KEKE=NAPEP, THE COMMONEST MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION IN THE MUNICIPAL.
Yes Owerri is very peaceful, but averagely costly. Not really a place to make too much money as most people who control the cash flow in the city make their money from neighbouring states only to come in to spend it during weekends. Commercial activities too are very thriving.
The most lucrative business in Owerri includes Hotels, Brotels, Guess-houses, beer palours or drink-joints (isi-ewu + point and kill centres).
Less I forget, WOMEN plenty for Owerri no be small. This being the result of about 6/7 tettiarry institutions located all over the town.

@chamber2. . . I'm not here for tribal war, I'm too enlighten to engage in tribal gymnastic with you. Yes. . . Those very clean and green photos were fabricated by Ohakim to deceive people, you may have seen it online and decided to post it here, for example; you posted a photo of a fully completed bridge/fly-over here for us to see how Owerri is developing. Sir. . . There is no such fly-over yet here in Owerri, construction is ongoing in Orji and Amakohia by some incompetent philipines that scatter and build everyday. Can you tell me where there is such fly-over you posted here in Owerri? I'll like to visit and see for myself. Those photos are deceit, lies, fake and political. I'm not a visitor here, I'm living and studying here.

@chamber2, you may have to give up this campaign, because it has turned out that its all still on bill boards as people have consistently commented here, its not yet on the ground and from all indications it was never planned to be on the ground.
