President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ajuri Ngelale as the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, showcasing his commitment to bolstering the communication team. The announcement came following the departure of Dele Alake, who vacated the position to assume a ministerial role.

Dele Alake is among the list of nominees scheduled for Senate screening on Tuesday.

Ngelale, who previously served as the Senior Special Assistant for Public Affairs in the Presidency during the previous government, brings a wealth of experience from his time working in the office of former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

The appointment was officially disclosed by Willie Bassey, the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. It will take effect on July 31, 2023, and is expected to last until the current administration's term ends, subject to any further decisions made by the President.

President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ngelale's abilities and encouraged him to apply his extensive experience to excel in his new role.

In response, Ngelale expressed his gratitude and humility, taking to Twitter on Monday night to acknowledge President Tinubu's recognition and appointment as his Official Spokesperson & Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity. He pledged to give his best and expressed his love for everyone.

Before this appointment, Ngelale had a prominent role as the Assistant Principal Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for the 2023 elections.

Also, he possesses a strong background in media, having worked at esteemed media outlets such as DAAR Communication (owners of AIT and Ray Power) and Channels Television. With his diverse experience, Ngelale is poised to make a significant impact in his new position, contributing to effective communication and public engagement during the current administration.
