Let's take a quick look at the attempted coup against Niger's President Mohamed Bazoum.

It all started on Wednesday, the 26th of July, 2023, when the Niger plotters cited escalating insecurity in their takeover speech, and the process eventually led to the overthrow of the current President, Mohamed Bazoum.

According to the Army spokesperson, Colonel-Major Amadou Abdramane, the defense and security forces have decided to put an end to the regime the citizens are familiar with.

In his words, "The defense and security forces have decided to put an end to the regime the citizens are familiar with. This follows the continuous deterioration of the security situation and the bad social and economic management." Because of this, the country's borders have been closed, and a nationwide curfew is in place.

In case you are not aware, this is not the first time this has happened in Niger. In March 2021, a military unit tried unsuccessfully to seize the presidential palace days before Bazoum, who had just been elected, was due to be sworn in.

However, the successful revolt on Wednesday has raised concerns for the so-called "coup belt" area. Going down memory lane, this is the sixth successful coup in West Africa since 2020, following two each in Guinea and its neighbor Burkina Faso.

The past administrations in those countries were also criticized by the usurpers for failing to stop the tsunami of instability that has swept the Sahel since 2012.

Very apt move..

The world has gone past coups.. Africans too must do away with the idea of coup plotters upturning a democracy for the good of all.

Credible info I got is that Niger people are having it fine and well with Bazooum or whatever he is called, so what excuse do the coup plotters have to upturn Niger's democracy if not for selfish reasons and likely external influence from countries hoping to exploit their resources.

The NIGERIAN RUBBER STAMP legislature should for once do the right thing by commencing impeachment proceedings against Tinubu for:

1. Meddling in the internal domestic affairs of a friendly SOVEREIGN State.

2. Conniving with non aligned nations to cause war in and around Nigeria thereby jeopardizing the national security and territorial integrity of Nigeria.

He should be impeached already..

Nigeria is not making any significant progress however way you wish to look at it. We have enough problems of our own to tackle. Why bring upon the nation more problems that is avoidable. Allow Niger to chart her course.

Yes.
Coup is like a contagious disease.
If you ignore it because you are currently healthy, it will infect and destroy you too,

The coupist are all illiterate liars.

Sudan Coupist: We took power to restore security and economy.
Today, Sudan is in a civil war under the saint coupist.

Mali coupist: We took power to restore security and economy.
Today, large part of Mali is still under rebels and jihadist.
The economy is actually worse. If not for humanitarian aid from the
west, millions would starve.

The same goes for the other coupist.
