Abia State Has Adopted Digital Method For Revenue Generation by Kingsmeal: 12:03pm On Aug 11, 2023
In July, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State informed Ndi Abia that starting from September 1, 2023, Abia will transition to a Treasury Single Account (TSA) system to centralize all state revenues & payments, & enhance transparency & efficiency.

The system is designed to fight fraud, streamline taxes, & empower Ndị Abia to generate employment & attract investors.

Today, they have launched #AbiaPay a digital tax payment system devoid of agberos and middlemen. One that even allows commercial vehicle operators to get discounts, you can be sure our people would be happy to pay!

Another win for transparency!

Another win for Abia State!

What do you make of this new development?

Beautiful...

This is very pragmatic and it smashes Agbero menace totally.

It will create legitimate streams of income for service providers and shore up Government finances.

It even gives the taxpayer a transparent platform to show effected payments. Just hope it will be entrenched.

Good move!!

Honestly the price of this tax is nothing really they are not making sense

Tax should be minimum 20% of average earnings

Keke drivers in Abia make an average of 5000 after expenses per day... Say 3500

So there tax should be minimum 700

20% tax is not over taxing

People should feel tax, people should feel the pain of paying tax so that they can hold leaders accountable

U can't tell someone paying 25k a month minimum in tax to vote for you for 10k na... Impossible

This mentality is why most Nigerians support nonsense from their elected officials without asking questions.

More than 40% of the population of the US don't pay tax. Many earning $40,000 to $50,000 didn't pay shishi self.

Yes that's minimum wage... But that doesn't mean they don't pay housing tax? Sales tax

I'm telling you what serious county with a population of 30 million and above pay 20% income tax simple

Less than 10% of Nigerians pay income tax

Stop digressing, we are talking about income tax from Okada and Keke riders.

Do poor Nigerians not pay VAT when they drink coke, eat Indomie and pay housing tax when they pay their rent inclusive of the tax to landlords?

For your information, Republicans are advocating that income tax be eliminated in the USA and incorporated into VAT.
Cooperation taxes, Import tariffs, and carbon tax (for some States) are the main sources of revenue, not individual taxes the government uses to enlarge itself at the expense of the citizens.

Leaving money in the hands of citizens and families is the best economic policy of a democratic government.

3500 per day is three times minimum wage in Nigeria

Only those that make below minimum wage should not pay tax that's the point

There is no way 3500 minimum per day is minimum wage
