COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL PROJECTS, MONITORING AND IMPLEMENTATION MEETS WITH MINISTRY OF SPECIAL DUTIES
........harps on hardwork, pledges readiness to synergize for maximal results

The committee on Special Projects, Monitoring and Implementation has called on the managerial team of the Ministry of Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport to gear up and get to work as regards ongoing and abandoned projects handled and executed under the supervision of the ministry.

The call was made earlier today during an interactive session between the Ministry and the House of Assembly Committee, headed by the Chairman and member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Uwem Imoh-Ita who stated the gathering on the strength of the standing order 9, rule 2 of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

The order states that, "There shall be a committee to be known as Committee on Special Projects, Monitoring and Implementation. The functions of the committee shall include overseeing the operations of projects, monitoring and evaluation agencies in the state; overseeing the operations of the ministries, extra ministerial departments, parastatals and boards in the state, considering all bills and measures falling under the responsibility of the ministry of special duties and its allied agencies."

In his response, the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport, Dr. Bassey Okon who led a delegation of managerial staff of the ministry to the interaction, appreciated the Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno for seeing him fit to continue the lead with the ministry, stating that his reappointment brings with ease, the identification, continuation and completion of projects handing by the ministry which were not completed before the end of the previous administration.

He highlighted basic projects within the Ministry to include; for the Victor Attah Airport, projects handled include the Parallel Taxi way and Airport Extension, the terminal building, Security roads, VIP car park, MRO facility, and the security perimeter fence. Also handled by the ministry is the Four point by Sheraton at Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area and also the Ibom Deap Seaport.

He also highlighted under direct labour intervention projects that the ministry is in-charge of the execution of over 2km road network at Ikot Ambon, Ibesikpo Local Government Area which has construction ongoing, and also a 1.56km road network at Itam. Also is the official residence of the Chief Judge of the State, which has been soft commissioned and has the furnishing aspects yet to be executed.

In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Chairman and member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, Hon. Moses Essien after reflecting on the presentation, commended the Honourable Commissioner, stating that His presentation shows commitment and readiness to work. He also assured the Commissioner that with the cooperation of the Ministry, they will work assiduously together to achieve a desirable goal.

Other members of the committee present includes; Member Representing NsitAtai State Constituency, Hon. Prince Attah; Member Representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, Hon. Engr. Udobia Udoh; Clark of the House, Mrs. NsikakAbasi Orok, and Clark of the Committee, Hon. Uduak Okon
