EBONYI SPEAKER MEETS PARLIAMENTARY STAFF ASSOCIATION, ENJOINS THEM TO BE COMMITTED TO SERVICE

The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa has reassured of robust welfare Package for the workers of Ebonyi State House of Assembly for keeping faith with the present administration in the state under Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

Speaker Odunwa Stated this at the legislative Complex, Nkaliki Road Abakaliki on Thursday, during a maiden meeting with the Staff of the State House of Assembly Service Commission.

The Chief Lawmaker said that the administration of Governor Nwifuru, has provisions that would benefit all residents of the state. He acknowledged the present hard economic reality in the Country and implored them to continue to exercise patience saying, it was going to last shortly, but rather persist to rely on God. The Speaker maintained that the current administration has zero tolerance for truancy and indolence, and called on the workers to demonstrate dedication, passion and hard work as partners in progress.

"Let me assure you that I will continue to be accessible to you, and you will always get whatever that is due for you. God cannot allow me to take anything that belongs to you. Anything that belongs to workers will always get to them."
"You owe a commitment to God by coming to work, because, you can't eat what you did not work. And in our tradition, we believe that any money you did not work for, will not be beneficial to you. So, try and work for the money you earn by coming to work. Anytime you come to work, whatever that is your designation, discharge it, and you will be satisfied within your conscience that you have done something that enabled you to earn that money."

Earlier, the Secretary Ebonyi State House of Assembly Service Commission, Mrs Ezeagu Maryrose, thanked God for the victory of Rt Hon. Odunwa during the 2023 State Assembly general election, which laid foundation of his emergence as the Speaker, saying that it was his delivery of dividends that earned him his second term in office and pledged smooth working relationship with him.

"I want to use this opportunity to congratulate you for your successful reelection into the House of Assembly, Congratulations Sir. It is being said that the reward for hard work is more work. It is because you represented your people well, that is why they voted you back into the office. This time, not as ordinary member, but the Speaker of the House of Assembly, and we shall continue to work smoothly with you."

On thier parts, the Clerk of the House, Mrs Patricia Anasi, the Chairman of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) Ebonyi State Chapter, Mrs Regina Oshibe and Head Of Department (HOD) Finance, Mr Izinya Thomas Congratulated the Speaker on his present position and implored the Staff of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, with regard to the hard economic reality in the country and however, pledged to support his administration to ensure that it succeeds .

The meeting was graced with the presence of the Principal Staff, and workers of the Assembly While a minute of Silence was observed in honour of the demise of one of the Staff, late Mrs Patience Nweke, whose death occured last two weeks ago.
