NIGERIA TO HAVE A THEME SONG, SAYS MINISTER OF ART, CULTURE AND THE CREATIVE ECONOMY.

UNVEILS INNOVATIVE PLAN FOR THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY.

The Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy Barr. Hannatu Musa MUSAWA (Esq.) has officially assumed duty as the first Female Minister to hold the portfolio.

The Minister was received by the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and other Senior Officers as well as members of Staff of the Ministry with loud ovation.

In a brief remark, the Minister who expressed delight with the warm reception, specially appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for considering her worthy to serve in such a capacity.
She promised to give her best to the rebranding of Nigeria's image.

The Minister maintained that the Country can no longer be associated with negativity such as poverty, fraud, terrorism and other forms of criminality.

Barr Musa-Musawa however said to change the nation's image positively beyond the shores of this country will require the collective support of all well-meaning Nigerians.

The Minister also pointed out that one of her key plans in the immediate is to have a NATIONAL TEAM SONG FOR THE NIGERIAN BRAND. She, therefore encouraged Nigerian Song Writers and Music Artists from the Six Geopolitical Zones of the Country to begin to think in that direction.

The Nigerian Arts, Culture and Creative Industry, She noted that the Nigerian Creative Industry has come of age and it is time to project it in a new exportable dimension for improved foreign earnings.

Hence, she said Nigerians should expect innovative and inspiring concepts that will drive and support this Sector in the coming weeks".

The Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy assures that all the necessary plans/ Mechanisms will immediately be activated, just as all relevant Stakeholders in the Public and Private Sectors will be meaningfully engaged for the effective execution of the project.

Dear Honourable Minister, Congratulations. Just a few suggestions on focus areas for your ministry. As at 2021, the creative industry contributed $21.8bn to the country's GDP and employed over 10 million people or about 8% of the total workforce. The industry also generated $4.8bn in foreign exchange earnings. (NbS)

To put this in context, the FG invested about $100 million dollars in this industry in the year 2021.
NCDMB- Nigerian Content Fund- $25mm
NFVCB- Film Fund- $15mm
NCC - Copyright Fund- $10mm.

These are just a few. Now to be able to drive $22bn in GDP out of an investment of $100mm shows just how massive the potential is for the Nigerian creative industry.

The UK with a population size of 68.8 million has a creative industry worth about $116.6 billion as of 2019 and the US with 300 million people is worth $877 billion

So, where a theme song sounds like a great idea, I would hope that you would also visit the "grassroots" of the creative industry and pin point thier pain points. Why is access to funding so hard? Why are the CBNs creative industry loans not being accessed by players in this field? What are the tariffs and bottlenecks involved in purchasing content creation tools and can these be bottlenecks be broken? Is there a community where content creators and the government meet to share ideas and resolve challenges? Can this community be coached and properly guided to create content that positively drives the image of the country. Why do Nigerians still import Nigerian style fashion from outside the country instead of steadily patronising local designers? Can necessary laws be passed via the senate that will drive support for local content and not just a once in a while photo-op of a single shoe maker making shoes for a Government executive?

You have your job cut out for you Honourable Minister and I sincerely wish you the best of luck in building on this goldmine and driving improvement in this field. @officialABAT @AjuriNgelale @iyaboawokoya
A potential workable solution to enhance and harness the potential of this ministry. Mr Minister please consider.

That said, the current reality in Nigeria today does not inspire any hope. A government facing legitimacy issues with already known corrupt persons as members is on ground.

The failure to cut cost of governance with expansion of political offices for political patronage compensation with zero innovations on revenue generation thereby compounding the financial crisis of this nation is really distraughting.

Extrapolating further, the deteriorating insecurity with the attendant ill effects on the lean resources, depletion of manpower and national sovereignty with the now ECOWAS-Nigerien war is not gonna help this nation.

Nigeria today is highly polarised based on ethno-politico-religious divide. So even with a new Nigerian envisaged by the creative industry, when are going to sing a genuine redemption song. The Labour of our hero past is still in vain.

Whatever happened to the National Anthem?

This is what you get when airheads are appointed as leaders.

I admit that people that who worked during campaign should be compensated buy I also want to insist that the current system of nominating and assigning ministers is faulty.

The childish priority Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa is pointer to her being a round peg in a square hole. She should start by meeting with experienced practitioners and critical stakeholders from all branches of the creative industry with a view to developing at least 4 to 8 year-roadmap.

Imagine having a practitioner in the creative industry who understands the the journey so far, the challenges and the prospects of creative industry in Nigeria. Imagine appointing Keke Ogungbe, Zik Zulu Okafor, etc as a Minister in charge this strategic ministry. Or better still, why not pick from many creative industry practitioners who worked as part Tinubu campaign team

We all can now see the quality of talent Tinubu hunts,
Very confused overhyped corrupt druggie forger.

This one should have started from SSA

I keep saying it Lagos can survive even without a Governor, one year budget of Lagos state is 7times that of Anambra state, but same can be said of the DEVELOPMENT and achievements.
