The National Bureau of Statistics has said that in Q1 2023, 92.6 per cent of employed persons in Nigeria were in informal employment which includes agriculture, while 89.4 per cent in informal employment which excludes agriculture.

The NBS stated this in its “Nigeria Labour Force Survey” published on its website on Thursday.

According to the report, Nigeria’s unemployment rate was 5.3 per cent in Q4 2022 and 4.1 per cent in Q1 2023.

Nigeria tops global unemployment rating
The figure indicates a significant drop in the unemployment rate, compared to the 33.3 per cent published by the statistics body as Nigeria’s unemployment rate in 2020.

The drop in unemployment rate is attributed to a rejig of the metric used by the NBS to measure unemployment in the country.

smiley
I remember when Okonjo Iweala did the rebating of Nigeria's economy and they found out that Nigeria ws the largest economy then.
It was because they use the normal global practice.
Nigeria has been using old system, which has been jettisoned by a lot of nations of the world,to determine the unemployment rate but the methodologies used now are based on what USA,UK,Kenya,Ghana etc have been using for quite some time now.

The oppositions have statisticians, let them compute the one that is contrary to this using the globally acceptable global practice.
We want see something wink

No wailing.Read the methodologies and you will know why the unemployment fell to 4.1%.

That is how it is done all over the world, hours are also determinants too.
You can't blame them.Blame international statistics body.It is the global practice.
Some people in the farm and those selling agbado are better than you collecting 30 thousand naira monthly.
