I'm very impressed by David Umahi on ChannelsTV.

Highlights and a snapshot view of the salient points and take home from the New minister of works.

1. Advocating for direct labour for MOST projects, to improve local content and job creation.

2. Advocating for the use of Concrete for MOST road projects, and where necessary, a 2-inch layer of asphalt as finishing on the concrete roads.

3. Directs that all files for approval do not exceed 48 hours on ANY director's desk, in his Ministry.

4. Advocates that all Governors (irrespective of Political Party) and their National Assembly members (and also including House of Assembly members) sit down in a meeting to agree on the specific federal roads to be prioritised in their respective States. This will help the FG budgeting process and focus on publicly agreed roads.

5. Advocates for a Road Infrastructure Fund, similar to the UBEC fund, as a percentage of FG revenue, plus private finance.

6. Advocates for more BOOT (Build, Own, Operate and Transfer) arrangements involving the Private Sector.

7. Man spoke like an experienced Engineering Manager, who knows his onions.

Let's see how it goes because a project is not completed until it is put to use....there is no better time to do it better than now.

As a State governor, one man once said "only Jesus can make promises and keep it, I'm not Jesus Christ". Before you get excited, find out who made that comments to his civil servants after promising them salary increase.
