You are very correct. There is a tribe in Nigeria that wears a red cap as their cultural identity. Sometimes it is knitted like the one worn for babies. It is very obvious that it is borrowed from the white men and now used as proudly a cultural identity because fact showed that they were not civilized enough to have invented a traditional weaving machine and were using palm leaves to cover their unclothedness.
