SSS Probes Buhari Over Poll Violence
Former Head of State General Muhammadu Buhari, who was President Goodluck Jonathan’s main challenger in last April’s election is under investigation by the State Security Service (SSS) over his campaign speeches in the build up to the election, reliable sources told Daily Trust in Abuja yesterday.
The sources said the thinking in government is that there is a discernible link between Buhari’s speeches on the hustings and the election violence that trailed the presidential election.
Buhari lost the election to Jonathan, but as soon as the results were announced violence flared up in about 10 states in the North.
Government officials alleged Buhari’s insistence that voters should guard their votes had encouraged people to go on rampage as soon as it was announced that Jonathan had won the election.
But Buhari and his party, the Congress for Democratic Change, had since dismissed the claim, saying that some prominent religious figures as well as the head of the electoral commission Professor Attahiru Jega had also asked voters to guard their votes.
Daily Trust learnt that the investigation by the SSS began a few months ago and it had taken undercover agents to some electronic media organisations asking for Buhari’s campaign speeches and jingles.
At least one of the electronic media organizations had declined to oblige the request, according to our sources. The request was then routed through one of the regulatory agencies, but it was not clear whether it was obliged.
One television station, which coincidently aired most of the CPC presidential candidate’s campaign rallies and jingles, reportedly turned down the security outfit’s demand, citing “ethical reasons.”
Daily Trust also learnt that at the same time a parallel search for Buhari’s campaign tapes were going on by a group of lawyers in Abuja. They were going about enquiring from journalists how they could lay hands on such footages.
At least four journalists confirmed they were approached and asked if they possess any recordings of Buhari’ campaign tapes, and if not whether they could ask around for them. But the lawyers couldn’t succeed with them.
One of the journalists consulted by these lawyers told Daily Trust that the lawyers approached him recently requesting him to provide them with “some of the tapes of Buhari campaigns, particularly in the northern part of the country where he made inciting statements.”
“One of the lawyers who approached me said that some of his colleagues are planning to drag Buhari to court over the recent bomb blasts and general insecurity in the country. They therefore wanted me to provide them with the tapes where the CPC presidential candidate made inciting statements, urging his supporters to resort to violence if the elections were rigged,” the journalist said.
The source added that the lawyers were also ready to pay some tangible amount of money “for the service he would provide.” He told Daily Trust that they were ready to pay any amount “provided he would give them the tapes and even serve as a witness when the trial resumes.”
SSS spokesperson Marylyn Ogar did not respond when Daily Trust called to get her comment on the matter. Questions sent to her phone on October 8 on the issues were also not answered.
When Daily Trust contacted Buhari, his close aide confirmed that the CPC leader is aware of the plot. “The General has received some report over the SSS plot to implicate him,” the aide who spoke in confidence said.
“Buhari is not bothered about what they are doing because all his campaign speeches were not made in secret; they were publicly made. Therefore, he has nothing to fear about whoever is investigating his political speeches,” the aide said.

You mean that there were no SSS agents present at Buhari's campaigns? And they didn't record his speeches? So what do they spend their money and time on? Secret agents indeed!

Better change your mind, because the propagandists are those you support; the IBB's, Atiku's and Buhari's.
Boko haram is failing so the next line is to tell lies and sob stories in the press.
Of course, the SSS must be probing Buhari, but it isn't the religious event Daily Trust is making it out to be. If he is found wanting, he will either be questioned or trussed up as the law dictates.

An after thought. When the Lemu led committee on post election violence, submitted its reports to President Goodluck Jonathan, Vanguard came out with the news that, Buhari has been indicted over the post election violence, when the committee has no where it indicted Buhari. SSS was actually waiting for a chance to move against Buhari, now that they could not with the post election committee's report, they now choose to go after Buhari's campaign comments. Meanwhile, the elections they are trying to probe was conducted 6 months ago, while the declared winner is 4 and a 1/2 months old in Office. SSS, you people don't have work.

Beaf:For the first time ever, I see you speaking as a SANE being. Keep it going, if you are for real. On a more serious note! Does Beaf work? I am asking because, before I could get to quote him here, it was on the second page of his profile. Today alone since 12.27am, 18th October, 2011, Beaf has 68 posts across all board for now. More to follow before the end of today. Please, if you know him, advice him to get a job. Or, maybe GEJ is paying him real big, for promoting him here on Nairaland.

Most of the campaigns speeches Buhari had in the north were in the native language of Hausa where he emphasized the need for the electorate to protect their votes. These created a row even before the election went underway as the ruling party felt that this was a threat to security during the polls. I remember interviews with reuben abati while on neutral front on channels tv saying theirs nothing wrong with electorate guarding votes. This prompted the INEC chief to comment and also gave a clean bill to this adding that it must be 300 metres from the ballot box.
Its unfortunate when we all forget how these thing emanated and point only one finger at someone and ignore the four pointing back at us.Coming from events of the past and now to the unfolding events .If everything jonathan has said is anything to go by, he is eager to end all the violence and be able to concentrate on making the lifes of the electorate worse off-implying he cant touch buhari.Mind you ,they have already started with the removal of the subsidy,

Ayatollah Buhari Bin Laden's pre-election threats of violence if the polls didn't go his way, followed by the pre-meditated massacre of election officials in Nigeria's Islamic northern dust-bowl, amount to a simple cause and effect sequential chain of events that is solidly corroborated by readily available forensic and documentary evidence.
It is now time for the findings of Nigerian government investigators to be shared with Interpol and with the International Court of Justice located in The Hague, so that global arrest warrants can be issued for Ayatollah Buhari Bin Laden, to facilitate his timely take-down, trial and lifetime incarceration for genocide and sectarian incitement. The caging of that blood-thirsty Jihadist cretin, Buhari, would be of IMMENSE lasting benefit to the West African sub-region, and indeed to world peace.
Please, President Goodluck Jonathan, kick off this urgent process, and let it be done with once and for all.

Sure as the Pope is Catholic, Pukkah. Ayatollah Buhari Bin Laden vented much PUBLIC vociferation to the northern fundamentalist hordes that formed the core of his piteous support base in Nigeria's recently concluded presidential elections. In several key RECORDED pre-election and mid-election speeches, Buhari urged his wild-eyed Taliban devotees to "defend their votes by ALL MEANS AVAILABLE", and, as his inevitable LOSS became apparent in returning election results, to "deal with" anyone so much as suspected of electoral mis-conduct.
Finally, Buhari thrust his scrawny little chicken neck through the judicial noose by threatening to make Nigeria "ungovernable" in the event that his well-deserved electoral defeat came to pass. No sooner had that FOURTH consecutive electoral drubbing been duly handed to Ayatollah Buhari than did commence an unprecedented wave of IED and Al Queda-style suicide bombings targetting civilians and service personnel with equal savagery, including notably a recent deadly suicide car bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria's federal capital.
During the 1990s, Rwandan and Burundian soldiers, priests and radio personalities verbally incited genocide with radio urgings that denounced members of the Tutsi tribe as "cockroaches" deserving of gruesome machette deaths at the hands of Hutu tribesmen. Those rabble-rousers all now serve out solitary life terms behind the bars of cold prison cells assigned them by the International Court of Justice in Den Haag, Netherlands. In IDENTICAL FASHION, Ayatollah Buhari Bin Laden of Nigeria called for bloodshed before, during and after Nigeria's most recent presidential election, and that indiscriminate, pointless mayhem was indeed delivered by his Jihadist suicide monkeys, who continue their campaign of random terror to this day.
Buhari's speeches inciting civilians to take the law into their own hands, and to engage in summary frontier jungle justice during an otherwise free, fair and peaceful national election, constitute damning evidence that qualifies him eminently for a fair trial by the International Court of Justice, leading smoothly to life behind bars in a Dutch secure facility, though few would be more suited for discreet humane culling than mass-murderer Ayatollah Buhari, were that option legally available to the court, which it regrettably is not.
