Onanuga is a former Director, Media & Publicity if the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council

Social media need to be regulated urgently. So many spurious reports today about the Kaduna governorship verdict by the Election Tribunal. The most notoriously shared headline: "Kaduna governorship election declared inconclusive". This was circulating while the tribunal was still reading its judgment. There should be some control in the social media space, otherwise the misinformation and disinformation being disseminated will one day trigger a civil war in our country.

Bayo Onanuga got no moral right to ask that social media be regulated when he himself used the same platform to spread ethnic bigotry, ethnic cleansing, hate, which let to the killing, maiming, destruction of lives and properties of people of a particular ethnic group because of their democratic choice

He who comes to equity must come with clean hands

Onanuga is crazy for looking for a flimsy reason to regulate social media when even the print media carried both versions of the story

They should even block internet. After all, North Korea don't have social media of any kind and they are living. Nonsense.

During PDP era, APC used internet and social media. Multiple protests and propaganda to unseat Goodluck. Now they can't stand mere social media freedom of speech.

You rigged election, bought the judiciary, yet not even a single protest. The only social media we have to air our view, you want to regulate it.

One thing I know is that every evil thing always have an end.

By the way, Agbado people, what is the price of Dollar today?

I agree with you sir. The rate at which Nigerians produce fake news is alarming. If something is not done urgently, the social media will be our undoing in Nigeria.
