Reports Of A N50billion plea Bargain deal with Emefiele Is False - AGF Fagbemi by fergie001: 11:51am On Oct 01, 2023
The attention of the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice has been drawn to reports alleging that the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, and the Federal Government of Nigeria, have agreed to a non-prosecution plea bargain arrangement.

The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice hereby state clearly that these reports are completely false.

It would be noted that the legal team representing Godwin Emefiele had expressed its intention in court at the last hearing to initiate a plea bargain arrangement. However, no such arrangement has been reached with Mr. Godwin Emefiele or his representatives.

We wish to advise the media and members of the public to kindly disregard the said false report. The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice will continue to take all actions in the interest of the Nigerian public.

Modupe Ogundoro (Mrs)
Director (Press and Public Relations)
Federal Ministry of Justice

We assume that the ex CBN chief acted according to his boss institutions, and that's why he didn't reprimand him, suspend or sack him.

Why is his boss still walking freely while Emefiele is still locked up? grin

Emefiele is on trial for corruption and gross violation of extant provisions of the public procurement act. He is not being prosecuted for the series of bad policies he implemented as CBN governor since bad policies are not criminal offenses.

Buhari did not tell Emefiele to steal billions of Naira. Buhari did not tell Emefiele to violate the provisions of the Public Procurement Act. Emefiele will face his crimes alone.

Mr President! Why don't you recover Nigeria stolen funds from Emefiele and inject it back into the economy rather than borrowing new funds from world Bank?

Emefiele is not an ordinary accountant, he is the CBN chief, working under the presidency. He cannot err if the president didn't err. And if the president didn't sack him, then they are in full support of him. Why is this next government witch hunting him?

Who is talking about Accountant here? It’s obvious you don’t even know the meaning of Accounting Officers in regards to Federal MDAs.

Go and learn about how the federal public service is structured and administered before talking and criticizing what you don’t understand. The ignorance you’re oozing is embarrassing.
