The Leadership of the National commission for the co-ordination and control of the proliferation of small arms, ammunitions and light weapons (NATCOM) has felicitated with its Director General Dr. Baba Mohammed on his 57th birthday.

The commission’s Co-ordinating Director of human resource department Mr David Olaitan Oladimeji in a statement issued in Abuja said that Members of NATCOM, as always, continue to pass a total vote of confidence and unalloyed loyalty to Ag. DG, Dr. Baba Mohammed over his continued qualitative leadership .

Consequently, the statement further reiterated that National commission is only one in Nigeria and remains under the able leadership of Dr. Baba Mohammed fcna, who has provided leadership in the capacity of non executive Director representing federal government in the then Nitel, Mtel, Delta steel company, Aladja, Aluminium Smelter company, Ikot Abasi, Nicon Insurance, Nigeria Reinsurance , then Afribank Nigeria plc, the then Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Nigerian security Printing and Minting, Nigerian Aviation Handling company, Transcorp Hotels plc Abuja. Mohammed also served as member/secretary, African privatisation network, member, Nigeria/South Africa bilateral commission, board member of Nigerdock Nigeria plc to mention but a few.

While wishing the Acting DG. more fruitful years ahead , NATCOM described him as a seasoned administrator and public servant of great repute who flaunts impressive and unblemished track records throughout his career in the civil service and as exemplified in his submission to the public hearing of the bill for the establishment of NATCOM in line with ECOWAS protocol.

The statement further stated that having Mohammed as the DG of NATCOM did not surprise various stakeholders who have followed his trajectory in service and his immense contributions to NATCOM.

“Dr Baba Mohammed is a firm believer of due process and a leader with a sound knowledge of the rule of law, having noticed the illegality contained in the operation of NATFORCE and consequential implications of such activities, he defended a bill before the 9th National Assembly seeking the establishment of a national commission for the proliferation of small arms, ammunition and light weapons bill 2020 (SB. 283) in line with ECOWAS convention.

Recalling his academic exploits, Baba Mohammed after emerging as overall best student in secondary school went further to obtain the following:

7. Fellow, Institute of Disaster Management and Safety Science
8. Chartered Institute of Forensic and Investigative Professionals in Nigeria
9. Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM)
10. Successfully passed through the prestigious Corporate Governance Rating system (CGRS) by the NSE and CBI of London.

Baba Mohammed, fcna, a recipient of over 100 awards from within and outside the country had travelled very wide and brought tremendous experiences to contribute his quota to the growth of Nigeria.

His birthday anniversary is also coinciding with his 25th wedding anniversary .

The marriage is blessed with seven children.
