Operatives of the department of state services (DSS) have reportedly assaulted a man who tried to overtake the convoy of Kano governor, Abba Gida Yusuf.

In a video shared on the internet, the security officials attached to the governor were seen dragging the driver out of his vehicle to beat him for attempting to overtake the governor’s convoy.

This act has been condemned by several individuals who felt the driver has every right to use the road and shouldn’t have been treated in an inhumane manner.

Some also said the victim may have even voted for the governor during the election while knocking the officials for assaulting an innocent man.

You don't overtake a convoy if security operatives are attached to it. That's the basic rule of the road.


Instead of beating the man, they should have just cautioned him that if he defies their warning, they could arrest him.

It's a breach of security and protocol. The guy should have learnt a thing or two. You cannot overtake those convoys especially the governor, and above. Its protocol and security. Here in Nigeria and in advanced countries. If he tries this with a US convoy , the secret service will have released a hail of bullets. They are trained not to take chances or make assumptions regarding the principals security.

The other thing is why are all state officials using convoys ,,it should be only president and vice , the rest should drive with the rest of Nugerians and taste / feel the roads. That's my take
