Historic Groundbreaking Ceremony Launches $100 Million Lagos Film City Project
In a landmark development for Nigeria's burgeoning entertainment industry, the groundbreaking ceremony for the much-anticipated Lagos Film City, a monumental $100 million legacy project, is set to take place this Wednesday in Ikosi Ejinrin, Lagos East Senatorial District. This ambitious project, envisioned to be the largest of its kind in Africa, is a testament to the dedication of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration to the creative sector.

The announcement was made by Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, who revealed that this groundbreaking event symbolizes a new era of prosperity and innovation for Lagos State. The Lagos Film City, stretching across 100 hectares of land, aims to stimulate economic growth by offering employment opportunities to the nation's youth. The project's financing will be driven by a Private-Public Partnership (PPP).

The Lagos Film City will serve as an all-in-one facility, encompassing leisure, entertainment, and educational infrastructure. It will be equipped with cutting-edge studios to support television, radio, and film production from pre-production to post-production and distribution, among other functions.
Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka emphasized the state government's unwavering commitment to this transformative endeavor, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture. She emphasized the project's potential to elevate Lagos to even greater heights and bolster the tourism and entertainment industry....
