So basically, 4000 criminals are about to join the over 100 million unemployed youths shocked with this economic hardship currently enjoyed by Nigerians imagine the wealth of havoc this released inmates and unemployed youths can collaboratively engineer grin Then Tinubu will come out and be preaching 25,000 naira salary increase for workers, to minimize harsh effects of Subsidy removal Pls Oga president how many job opportunities have you created for these millions of qualified unemployed youth ?? angry As am writing this now trust me over 40 million of these idle youths are busy wrapping Weed and Drugs for steady consumption. This should be a major concern to Tinubu Government cos an Idle youth is a grenade waiting to explode on innocent civilians sad

Also set free those being remanded but have stayed beyond what their sentencing days would have been, assuming they have been sentenced.

Lots of innocent souls there. Our police caused so many of this, all in the name of looking for promotion.

Better go and build more prison for the criminals instead of releasing them to come and be disturbing the peace of the society again.. Many of them prefer to be in prison than to be at liberty outside. They are incurable criminals

Lagos state is the problem.
There are cases were the complainant will like to withdraw the case but Lagos won't agree in the name of capital offence.
If two relations fight one hit the other one and he dies in the process,if the family tell the court they want to settle the matter the case should be striked out by the judge.
Cases like manslaughter should be allowed to settle out of court.
Other regions court strike any case out if the two parties decide to settle out of court but Lagos too like over sabi, that's why prison is congested and fg is in charge of feeding Dem while Lagos keep congesting prison.
Cases where the complainant wants to close the case should be closed be it capital offence. They can be fined by Lagos govt and the case dismissed, after that there name can be registered.

That's a wicked advice
Not everyone in prison is a hardened criminal
Some committed crime by mistake.Eg cases like manslaughter, they did it while trying to defend themselves
Some were set up while Some didn't even commit the crime

I Know of a guy that was arrested and sent to prison becos he had tattoos. He was charged for dtp and remanded. He spent months in prison

Everyone deserves a second chance

Nigeria is broke. They should save money used in feeding inmates.

Shey these guy don forget say most of these prisoners will become the responsibility of the various state governors from 2024? Or is the FG not handing over some of the prisons and prisoners to the state again?

He should spend the #500m on better thing and leave the states to sort out this issue.

See animal talk. People are being given a lifeline and you're angry. Would you spout this tosh if you were wrongfully held in prison?
