If you watch the video you will see that the organizers are mostly Lagos-based.
Secondly, it was a reconciliation even to unite two Nnewi development organizations (Nnewi Youth League and Nnewi Improvement Union) into one.
Development in Nnewi has historically been championed by Nnewi based outside the town.
During "Okonkwo Kano" days, it was Nnewi based in the North that dictated developments at home.
Today it is Nnewi based in Lagos.
You go to war with the army you have not the army you want.
As long as they are uniting for the benefit of the town's development as was the case in the past, even if they meet in Jerusalam, there should be no problem.

I sighted the man under whose leadership ASPAMDA was built in the video. He is now mostly based in Nnewi, but still retains his "lizard tail" in Lagos "maka adi ama ama" (I will not translate this for you).
These folks built Lagos (to my disapproval of course), and they would never be intimidated, shamed, or hounded out of their hard sweat.
If you think you can shout or shame them out of the place you are mistaken.
When they leave, (like they left Kano), it would be on their own terms (like a lot of them are already doing).
So, they meet in the national stadium Lagos because that is the venue that can contain them in Lagos there.
