He was honest and never claimed it was removal of fuel subsidy.

The truth is that fuel is not subsidised as the price is already higher than what it cost government to produce fuel.

He used the money to fund infrastructural development by setting up the Petroleum Trust Fund.


In a corrupt government , they call fuel price increases  subsidy removal so that they would not have to justify what they are doing with income generated, which they fully intend to loot.

Remember how the first thing Obasanjo did before increase fuel prices which he called sunsidy removal, was to shut down Petroleum Trust Fund, so that he was no longer obligated to justify where the money raised was going.
