you want to pack toll gates everywhere unto say, you dey do cement road. Thereby, creating more traffic and less ease of movement. Is nothing but dun*ces around the useless country. Viodemus gat tell them everything. So, your logic no tell you say, you for focus on rail. If you get more advanced sense, multiple rail. Various types of rails, while at it. If you build freight rail, that can ease the containers and big load cargoes, things that will even help the ajaokuta plant, and other major industries move heavier products. That way, the trucks can pick up from any plant, take products to a designated rail process center within that state, then when the train gets to destination, other trucks pick them up, and go to the destination. You can do 50 car train (50 car train means 50 individual sections). Then if you get additional advanced wisdom, you simultaneously, build passenger trains, if money dey, build more underground ones with security in mind, make the trains be moving every 10 mins, strictly no overcrowding. Zigzag the train lines all over the country, all the way to ev wer border, every state. If Nigeria was equal and a fair sensible place, it would have been that, you can live in sokoto if you want, and go to work or party or meeting in port Harcourt or imo or Lagos, in less than an hour if you use high speed train. And you can configure this for many variables. With this kind of logic, many people will see value in using trains or planes, that way, you can have more leverage in building the roads without packing the whole place with toll gates. The train should also be very cheap like 20naira or max 50naira a day, if not less. It is just that nigeria is currently very useless, very greedy, have a divisive criminal in charge, and lots of uncreative and possibly uneducated (I don't mean university education - I mean even self taught or just passionate learners and doers) in charge. 2 Likes |

Mr Concrete, prioritise roads needing urgent attention and start making progress gradually. $35 billion is a pipe’s dream. It seems like you are getting too excited. Once the roads are getting the urgent attention, economic activities will be enhanced, creating more taxable revenues you and your government can use in the future to build better roads. I hope you do well minister but stay focused on the job at hand. 1 Like |

Omobude244: How is he a thief? The amount quoted may be from sound costing analysis. He is the minister of works not you. If you want to call him names then use FOI bill to demand the breakdown of costing and give us your own costing estimate if you disagree with their own. |

Dobodobo04: The part in bold is correct but it seems Umahi wants aggressive and comprehensive overhaul of the road infrastructure of Nigeria which is a good thing also. The $35 billion may not be that crazy a figure considering Government can raise $5 to $10 billion from bond issuance to wealthy Nigerians. They can incentivize businesses to get involved. Dangote got waivers and tax break that saw him get involved in the construction of federal concrete roads. Umahi is hardworking and he says FEC approval is vital. Government should give Umahi the approval and mandate him to manage fund-raising, that will be inspected by specialized auditors, in the spirit of giving innovative ministers the free hand to conceive and fund vital projects that can secure the rapid development of Nigeria. |
