IGR = Taxes

Anambra is a tax haven, in case you don't.

Again, SE leaders are more economically sound than their SW counterpart.

For instance, Alex Otti recently said that "Taxes are government share of the prosperity it creates."

Do you really understand what that means?

Have you wondered why SE Governors, especially Abia and Anambra keep lowering taxes?

You won't understand because you guys suck at economics.

Keep celebrating IGR which is not an economic indicator while your debts keep mounting.

You claim to generate the highest IGR in the country yet SW has the highest debt ratio.

It doesn't make sense.

If Anambra State government is tax-obsessed like Ogun and SW Governors, only Onitsha Main Market will generate the whole if whatever IGR Ogun gets.

You are making noise because of 120 billion.

FYI, 12 million daily transaction happens at Onitsha Main Market. The market annual transactions sits at around $3 billion, with 40% of this circulating as unbanked transaction.

You can verify these claims with a simple Google search.

If Anambra government taxes just 1% of these transaction, it'll generate $30 million annually, which is approximately 21 billion naira.

If government taxes 5%, it'll generate 105 billion from the market alone.

But Anambra has 48 markets.

So, trade and commerce in Anambra can generate more than Ogun IGR.

If you are underrating trade, then look at the evidence below.

Trade is the third largest component of Nigerian GDP, far ahead of manufacturing. See the evidence in the attached image.

Quick Fact:

Taxes are a government share of the economic activities that go on in a state.

A state can decide whatever it wants as its share.

It doesn't make those that charge a higher rate more developed than those that takes lesser. Have you guys ever wondered why despite Ogun state having bigger IGR than the whole SE, yet Anambra reports larger GDP, GDP growth rate and lower debt than Ogun state?

Because Anambra is far more economically developed than Ogun.

Again, IGR is not a measure of economic prosperity, like our illiterate SW brothers are pandering about. It measures NOTHING. If you think otherwise, then tell me what IGR measures and I'll show you a better economic indicator.

Anyways, here are key economic indicators:

- GDP (total economic activities)

- GDP per capita (economic prosperity)

- Real GDP per capita or GNI (standard of living)

- GDP growth rate (economic growth)

- Gini Coefficient (Income inequality)

- Debt to GDP ratio (financial leverage)

The funniest thing is Anambra beats all SW states, except Lagos in all these indicators.

keep celebrating IGR instead of GDP, GDP per capita, GDP growth rate, Gini Coefficient and financial leverage. Anambra is beating una front and back in all these indicators.

Una go wake up one day las las.

Always demanding accountability from other people and never from your own poor and unproductive states where your leaders collect taxes and allocations and still have nothing to show.

You cannot survive or make it in life without leaving your poor and unproductive regions to look for food and survival in the places you always demand accountability from instead of your own states that you ran away from.

Ask your village leaders what they are doing with your taxes and allocations, the SW is not your governor and the SW is not collecting your taxes and allocations.

There are some issues that are way beyond some people's understanding.
There's this person up there with the Moniker, iamAtikulate who's really mixing up issues.
His incessant justification of bantering figures and comparing it especially as it to relates to development in Anambra state and the whole Igbo states with their southern counterparts especially Yoruba states is a bit perplexing.
Let me try to educate this individual so he stops this comparison.
Figures are used to show you activities that may be less visible to the naked eyes.
The truth about the internal generated revenue posted shows the total aggregate of activities going on in any locality.
You only tax returns on revenue, that is why it's called internally generated revenue.
The individual made a lot of assertions that I find very strange, trading goods and services will never generate revenue for any serious minded government.
I give an example,if the amount of money exchanged in Onitsha is 1billion every month, the state government is obliged to collect a fraction of the sales generated as taxes ,these taxes will probably be around 5%,which is 50 million.
Now compare that to a state like Ogun state, which has an industrial hub like Agabara, any company which generates 1 billion a month will mostly likely cough up to 15% of it's revenue in taxes and permits.
In essence,100000 people will end up generating 50 million for Anambra state while less than 10000 individuals will end up generating 3 times what's generated In Anambra in Ogun state.
But I end by saying this to imatikulate, whatever figures you are seeing will very soon become child's play in the next 2 years.
Lagos and Ogun state will witness massive exponential growth In their revenue when the Dangote Refinery starts production.
I'm very very sure Lagos will most likely double it's revenue while Ogun will have around 300-400billion.
You should be more concerned about what the Igbo governors will do with the natural resources God has bequeathed to them especially in the area of gas.
God bless Nigeria

Yet, men and women in the SE cannot wait to abandon the SE to seek food, survival and opportunities in the SW.

They are economically sound in the places you are running away from generation after generation, but they are not economically sound in the places you and your forefathers have been running to for survival for decades.

This is why they say you people are not bright or intelligent..

Chinese are in Lagos, is Nigeria more developed than China?

😂😂😂😂

If you are wise, you would have understood what SE is doing to SW economy.

They will come to SW, work, make money and repatriate the fund to SE.

Capital flight...

😂😂😂

Keep wailing, SE will continue to send a lot of her workforce to SW to make money and repatriate.

The workforce is a productive force, they work to produce goods and services and at the end of the day, the government collects its share of their productivity and earnings.

So, who is benefiting from this productivity arrangement?

The SW or your village?

The topic is not about roads in your SE village, it's about IGR and there's a difference between IGR and roads in the SE.

Start your own topic to wail about roads in the SE.
