Why will someone build a house without approval? That is not done anywhere. And the people rejoicing, let me ask. Are you really expecting him to post someone's CofO online?

You obviously don't live in Lagos or Ogun state. Yes people build without approvals because they are not very bright.

An approval is NOT CofO aka certificate of occupancy. I can also guarantee you that they have NO 99 years certificate of occupancy for the affected lands.

You again Beverly?

Everything is always victimisation to you.

LASG officials already said anybody with approval should provide it.

Let them provide it na. Abi, no evidence as always?

Lagos state government will not demolish any property that has valid documentation and the idiots know this.

It's not even in the place of Lagos state to regulate land sale. If you are stupid enough to buy a piece of land in a state like Lagos without verifying from the Lagos state urban planning and land registration body and foolishly go ahead to build without govt approval , who is to blame ?

The idiots think omonile tax is equivalent to approval to build.

The foolish building owners were even trying to bribe those carrying out the demolition. You wonder why the saying goes that a "fool and his money are soon parted".

Better they go to court Instead of wailing on social media.

did u give them the opportunity to go to court b4 demolishing? or its after u demolish u say go to court?

so they bribed government officials to collect c of o and thoses ones accepted? is that ur assumption?

They can sue the government. But guess what, they can't because they themselves know those lands were ilegally acquired. Forget it, they don't have CofO, if they did, they won't be offering bribes to government officials.

Igbos overdoing in their host land.

If they can't live by the rules and regulations of the land, they should exodus back to their region.

Their nuisances are becoming too much.

Are they the only tribe in Nigeria?

They should leave and go to their states.

This is what lack of proper home training/culture always leads to.

They're intolerants in their land and still want to be intolerant in another's man land.

In your village , can you point to one building that has one single govt approval document ?

Lagos state is right to allow the fools build on waterways and government land because if the government steps in during the construction phase and issue a stop work order, the idiots will drag Lagos state to court and still go on to complete the building and occupy it for years.

It's better Lagos state lets them build and complete it, do house warming and give them some months to think they have arrived before sending bulldozers to demolish their illegal structures.

That time they will be looking for accomodation and won't have time to file any useless case in court.

I support this move.

Let them demolish on completion .

No frivolous court injunctions , court adjournments and waste of public funds challenging a squatter who has developed illegal structure on govt land without any approval .

They not only stole government land but also acting against public interest and safety.

Next time they won't tell anyone to shine his or her eyes before they buy land in Lagos.

Just look at the nonsense you are spewing, what is the differences between those you tagged "criminals" and developers that knowingly acquire illegal lands ..
The most annoying part, the developers and land buyers are fully aware those land get comma but they always believe with bribe they can have there way

There is no moral, emotional or logical justification to being penny wise pound foolish. how can you have a building worth 100m in mind and settle for an illegal land, thats insanity

Read your own comment and think about it all over again, why will someone from somewhere assure you of something not documented ?
I can now see how most of you kids reason...
How can you spend hundreds of millions on a land you never made thorough investigation on ?

I. The same way if you settle someone in government today, tommorow a principled person like Wahab, ElRufai or Wike will come and demolish your illegal structure. So when you build illegally, you will always live in fear.

I have yet to see anyone on social media post his building approval or cofo. Because they know how they procured what they have if they have anything.

Attached below is how it’s done in a sane society. They make land information easily accessible to their citizens to prevent people from building on committed lands.

This happens in many states in Nigeria,
Any state that has a GIS (geographic information systems) has a computerized land registry system
It's surprising Lagos don't have a computerized land registry system.
It's a BIG SHAME

Abi ooo. Imagine offering 50million naira bribe. A SAN won't even collect only about 1/5th of that amount as legal fees. But we all know the owners of the demolished structures don't have any legal backing to stand on.

It will be difficult, cos Nigeria is running a system that capitalizes on her citizens ignorance, to cashout on them.

Every process is made soo tedious and cumbersome just to frustrate people

n3xt:
..

Before Lagos state would demolish structures, they should first demolish their archaic systems that are not working.

Go to office of the State Surveyor General, they’re still sorting their files manually.

They’ll give you tracking numbers that you can’t track from the comfort of your house without meeting or interfacing government officials.

The last time I went to track a file, I was told that the fire incident that happened in the OSSG office affected them hence the reason they’re sorting millions of records manually.

I ask if they haven’t digitize their records in 2023 and if they don’t know what they call backup in this age and time.

Attached below is how it’s done in a sane society. They make land information easily accessible to their citizens to prevent people from building on committed lands.

But here, govt deliberately keep the records away from the people. Instead of fighting tooth and nail to fix those systems that are not working, they’re celebrating their mediocrity on the social media.
It’s even more worrisome that the educated and those who have lived in sane societies find it so comfortable to cuddle up this mediocrity than to question it.

Lagos the biggest economy is Africa still sorting their land records manually in 2023 - SHAME!

Is this how difficult it is to obtain land information ion developed societies?

The energy they exert on social media to throw tantrums like overgrown babies should be spent in their offices looking for ways to prevent this issues from reoccurring.

But then, you can’t give what you don’t have!

There you have it! All noise. I've been saying it, we Nigerians are our biggest problem. We break the law with reckless abandon, and see it as our God given right to continue to do so. When we are called out, we start using all kind of foolish and wayward sentiment to cry wolf.

Imagine after all the noise, what came out of this? Nothing! Let LASG demolished any building that is blocking any drainage. Nigerians need to learn, albeit, the hard way.
