This should not be surprising or taken to deride others.

Going by western civilisation in Nigeria, badagry in Lagos was the first in most of the benchmark. Hence not surprising that the SW would quickly follow suit.

The issue is not who was first or most educated, wealthiest etc.

It is more about respect of the culture, values, traditions of the host society, in this case, the SW and especially Lagos.

All around the world, we see what economic migration, without integrating with the host society, is triggering a backlash, allowing hateful, radical and sometimes openly racist leadership to be elected.

The hubris attitude, respect and value differences between the ethnic groups, is a main source of friction. How the SE view and treat each other is most different from the SW, especially when it comes to age and wealth.

The SW, firstly is about respect not the wealth.

The other issue, is the openly, agitating interference in the political landscape of another man's region, with hubris claims of developing the geo-location. Who does that, even as the military induced constitution, allows this, does any right thinking person not know, this is a cause for friction?

If we learn to go about our daily business, respecting the host value system and integrating, they will and should be the ones, saying that the immigrant population are really contributing to the economy not the reverse, that they developed, when in truth, they were not and presently, still not close.

Industry, manufacturing drives the economy, count how many manufacturers are owned in Lagos and the SW by the ethnic groups, will quickly confirm the above.

Buying and inflating property prices is one thing, trading is another but the economy can do without these types of contributions, if this is the bane of beliefs, that you now are the developers of the land.

Please, best abide with the landlords and calm the attitudes and educate oneself from the many lies being fed to gullible ones. I remember how the civil war was twisted that my SE neighbour too believed the lies, until they pushed the truth out of the SW to dispel the nonsense being spread around.

Anyway, respect your hosts anywhere you find yourself, is a good motto and guide.

Badagry was not first

Lagos Island developed ahead of Badagry
