It was learnt that the gunmen who invaded the Plateau communities set several houses ablaze and also looted farm produce and destroyed properties during the attack.

The African Action Party (AAC) has tackled the President Bola Tinubu-led administration over the grievous killing of over 80 people by gunmen in several communities of Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State on Christmas day.

It was learnt that the gunmen who invaded the Plateau communities set several houses ablaze and also looted farm produce and destroyed properties during the attack.

This was confirmed by the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Monday Kasa, while revealing that the attack started on Saturday and lasted till Monday, Christmas Day.

The local government chairman went on to say that the number of casualties was growing as more bodies are recovered by the team of security personnel, local vigilantes, and hunters who were still combing the bushes for missing people who were ambushed during the attacks.

The unprovoked attacks drew the attention of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who condemned the act and urged immediate action and community vigilance.

The governor urged security authorities to apprehend the perpetrators of the atrocious acts and ensure they face the full force of the law in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere.

Reacting, the AAC party in a post on X (formerly Twitter) described the incident as heart-wrenching, adding that President Bola Tinubu is not ready to end insecurity like his predecessor.

“The killings on Christmas Day, from the Plateau to Katsina are heart-wrenching. This is one bad news too many for Nigerians. Just like @MBuhari, @officialABAT lacks the political will to fight insecurity the way it should be fought. Enough is Enough,” the party wrote.

Likewise, a chieftain of the party and activist, Femi Adeyeye also demanded immediate resumption of Bola Tinubu back to office to curb the menace.

He said, “We in the AAC demand that full actions to curb this menace be taken immediately and that the supposed Commander-in-Chief @officialABAT resumes "duty”. Tinubu should not be seen clinking glasses in Lagos while poor Nigerians are left for slaughter. #WeCantContinueLikeThis.”

Tinubu’s inaction is just necessitated by sheer politics. He won't want to be seen to oppose the same people he once defended with his infamous "where are the cow"? rhetoric.
