SPEECH DELIVERED BY DR BARRY AVOTU JOHNSON 1ST, COUNTRY DIRECTOR, VOTES MUST COUNT INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVE (VMCII) ON THE EVENT OF THE 2023 END OF YEAR INTERNATIONAL WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE HELD IN ABUJA NIGERIA ON THE 27TH DECEMBER 2023


Hello Nigerians, distinguished ladies and gentlemen of the press,

I welcome you all to the the 2023 END OF YEAR WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE like we do every year since 2015 when we founded the VOTES MUST COUNT INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVES which we have also Christine as the VMCII today.

It's my pleasure to also let you know that hosting this edition at the national head quarters of the labour party should be best described as very significant because of the responsible influence that will eventually flow with inbetween the event that accredits integrity, dignified recommendations and encouragement to those that honestly deserve to be awarded with the honors of the delivery of good service to Nigeria in political party politics and the media which plays a watch dog capacity in strengthening our democracy at all cost.

My Fellow media practitioners present here today, let this interest you to note that this edition is officially dedicated to our fellow Nigerians who lost their lives on Christmas Eve to the FULANI KILLER HERDSMEN in Plataea state.

Let's raise for a one minutes silence to honor these helpless Nigerians killed in cold blood.

May their souls rest in perfect peace.

And may their killers never find rest until justice is given.

And we use this chance to call on the federal government to look out of the box for better ways to finds a lasting solutions to this plateau state killings if not we shall ask Nigerians to take up arms and protect themselves or find ways to avenge the killings.

Honestly, Government have shown a very disheartening low capacity in protecting the lives and property of it's citizens and this should be seen as a characteristics of leadership disvalue which practically breeds incompetence displayed so far by this administration.

It is unacceptable, Nigerians must come out to reject this action by the killers, the weak and nonchalant approach to the protection of the Nigerian citizen as the constitution provides by inaugurated elements in government.

We therefore, on this note, call on senator bola Ahmed bola to with IMMEDIATE EFFECT RESIGN AS PRESIDENT and hand over government to those who understand what it takes to operate the influence of the powers of the President of Nigeria as the constitution provides via the official duty to protest the Nigerian people.

Nigerians, it is time to take back your nation and the only way to do so is to come all out and ask BOLA TINUBU TO GO, resign and allow Nigerians breath once and for all for the good of our existence as a nation.

We can't be killed everyday by the military spraying shoots at villages randomly and the Fulani killer squad ending people without chess by any security and law enforcement agency for the whole of three hours of the killing operation.

Gentlemen, We didn't come here to boarder you with the instability of Nigeria as nation via the actions and inactions of our confused leaders, but we have come here indeed to celebrate great personalities in our party politics and some of our great and courageous media experts.


Firstly, we again use this privilege to appreciate the labour party for given the VMCII the opportunity to stand before them today to inform the world that the leadership of the labour party under barrister Julius Abure has done very well and deserves a pass mark to move to the next level as the case maybe.

Barrister Julius Abure, we have come to celebrate your good works as the BEST NATIONAL CHAIRMAN inn2023 and as the most latest opposition partv in Nigeria with only one year of presenting a Presidential candidate with capacity to give Nigerians the best leadership they need in history.

Julius Abure, we discovered that you and your team have worked very hard to keep the party together even with all the troubles it faced before, during and after the 2023 general elections where some of your members became greedy to sell off the values of the party to the ruling party.

We saw how you fought like a wounded lion to restore the party and its credibility.

We saw how you managed the campaigns and presented Peter Obi to the world.

We saw also how you mobilized the most feared and dragged mass transformation movement called the Obidients and Well-Meaning Nigerians groups from all works of life to win the elections even when it was not given to you.

We saw you move like a wild wind to write history by winning one state Governorship, several Senatorial, Reps and States Houses of Assembly positions respectively.

Barrister Julius Abure sir, we have come to CROWN your personality and team players with the VMCII OFFICIAL VOTE OF CONFIDENCE STAMP which gives us the opportunity to identify with your good works and celebrate with you as our national chairman hero.

This is to encourage you and your team of strong men and women for the tireless works you have put into the labour party so far.

Sir, permit us to publicly say that you have personally done very well as the national chairman and we ask you to continue this great job because politics is dynamic and local.

Again we call on all labour party members all over the world to continue to stand by barrister Julius Abure as the national chairman so that the forthcoming national convention of the party holding in mid June according to the party constitution can enjoy quality outline, rule of law and new leadership that will take the party higher in the politics of Nigeria where more credible personalities can join and participate in every electioneering process in the country.

And for the media, we like to welcome you and

Ask you to continue to perform your constitutional duties as the fourth realm in championing democracy in Nigeria.

The media plays a major role in the true democratization of a nation and Nigeria must enjoy the values of quality media coverage without visa to do quality news stories that can inform, educate and mobilize the people of Nigeria both home and abroad as the case maybe.

We appeal to you not to allow any government official or establishment in the name of government regulations to gag you away from exercising your professional and legitimate duties as a trained, expert and conscience watch dog for democracy.

It should be very imperative to accept that in any way, if our so called pretentious democrats refuse to carry out democratic activities the right way, the media is expected to let them know that the game of politics has a rule and it must be followed so that the game can be open to all players from all political groups across Nigeria.

My fellow Nigerians, let's not shy away from our civic duties and responsibilities as citizens which plays a solid responsible valued task to the responsive continuation of democracy in Nigeria, when we see negative actions carried out by any government personality or organisation and refuse to speak up, we shall be the same people that will suffer from any negative inaction breezed by such actions taken by government, so don't be afraid to let the government know how its effects the people whenever they introduce or display a wrong motive because we are in a democracy.

Nobody is more Nigerian than any Nigerian, the difference between us all is that some were elected, rigged into office by force and appointed to serve as supporters to the government in power, and have state machinery at their disposal to operate but those of us in the opposition and on the streets have nothing but the power of the people which is the most powerful tool needed for the building and rebuilding of every nations democracy.

It can be used to takeover and handover power so start seeing yourself as a serious equipment of national development that is always ready to March for a Democratic freedom now and always.
