Adewunmi Samuel Sofomade, the leader of the Abuja-based music band kidnapped along the Lokoja highway, has disclosed the amount paid for their release.

DAILY POST reports that the band leader was abducted in December 2023, alongside his crew, while returning from a show in Kogi State.

The 13-man group was later released after a few days in captivity.

However, recounting his ordeal in a recent interview with BBC Yoruba, the band leader, also called Omoba De Jombo Beats, stated that the kidnappers later reduced their ransom from N10m to N7 million each before they were released.

“We were 13 that went to perform at a burial ceremony in Itakete Isao, close to Isan-Olu in Kogi State. And we had to move by road because they don’t have an airport in Kogi.

We had gone since Thursday. We finished performing at about 5:30 pm on Friday. So we felt that there was still time to return to Abuja. The incident happened just after we have past Dangote Cement.

We spent six days with the kidnappers inside a very thick forest and the six days felt like six years because a lot of things happened in that forest.

They asked for N10 million each. We started begging their commandant that we could not gather N10 million. He later reduced it to N7 million each.

When we received the information that the money had been completed but there was no cash during the December period, we started looking for cash. They initially agreed that the money be converted to dollars, but their leader later changed his mind and insisted on naira.”

Sometimes, it seems that Nigerians don't really want a change, that they only like to complain.
Nigerians, stop waiting for government and change your situation by yourself. You can. But if you refuse to do it, you will all be taken one after the other until you're all gone. Here's an idea on how to use Yahoo Boys to speedily increase the wealth and security of Nigeria.
The government has a role to play and the masses also have a role to play. But, many times, the masses just stay there and blame the government. That's one big thing that is wrong with Nigeria. A bitter truth though.

Kidnapping for ransom is the easiest crime to burst.
The ransom is the bait.

Why can't Nigeria police do the job? Because they are part of the kidnapping gang.

That money is less than N10m in their hands now. Christmas grooving has taken the rest and their yellow(light skinned) girlfriends are probably comparing them to the hustling band members who are too poor to be dated by them. This life ehn.

Yes. Can gistlover split any loot or settle them?
The kidnappers can and are probably willing to.
Will a bandleader just part with his money to the po-po? No.

They can't fish out those kidnappers. But if one receive money to protest against the leadership of the country, it won't take them few minutes to apprehend the person.
I hope those who always support every policy of any government in power are also covered by the security forces guarding those political leaders?
Evil entities just go about killing people in their farms, homes and on the highways and with all the technologies and manpower of the ministries related information/technology those enemies of the country can't still be apprehended?

What is wrong is that a country with multi ethnic nationalies cant run a unitary security system. This is wrong, Nigeria will continue to bleed because all her problem even from the first civil war has been about ethnic issue.
Why cant we just accept this? We can still live as one country but allow regions have total control of their security, borders, etc. This way, they can manage their security by them selves. The current security system has been compromised due to ethnic intetested. It is deep. Nigeria is finished.
Make una continue to be dragging ethnic pride of na my ethnic person dey rule. This guy who was kidnapped, his tribe is ruling Nigeria. This means that it doesnt matter whose tribe is ruling.
Nigeria has a fualty system. It is too large to be managed by a centralized security and government system.
Everything comes from Abuja as long as economy, and security is concerned. This is wrong.
Security should be decentralized down to the smallest village and let them handle sophiscated weapons and not the useless weapons u give to vigillantee. Omo, It is a pity that the masses will continue to pay for this until the masses them selves rise up to demand an end to the current system of govt which pays only thhe ruling class. We are all cowards.

They will trace them within days if it happens to any of their own relatives, but they don’t care when it happens to common Nigerians.
