Nigeria has plunged into darkness once again as the nation’s electricity grid collapsed.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) managed grid went down at approximately 11:51 AM on Sunday, reducing the system’s capacity from 2,407 megawatts to a mere 31MW by noon and reaching zero by 1 PM.

Despite the Federal Government privatizing the sector over eleven years ago, the grid remains unreliable, failing consumers on more than 141 occasions.

Distribution companies are already alerting customers about the situation, even as the generation companies have repeatedly expressed concerns over the impact on the safety and durability of their equipment.

According to the system operator’s platform, all 20 power plants, except Ibom Power with 31 megawatts, were offline by 11:51 AM.

The evil contraption is surely dying. Death is her final state so all those trapped within her can be free to forge ahead and build new nations for themselves.
Death to the evil contraption.

The huge tremor is being felt all over Nigeria and even La France since the BAT hit the ground and caused a massive earthquake.

I won't stop asking this very salient question. " As it is currently designed, does Nigeria qualify to be called a Country"?

Until we find genuine answers to this question, we won't be able to figure out the wrongs in the system and how to fashion out a proper way to create what a country/countries should look and feel like.

The power grid is non-existent and where they were, are collapsing. Yet, the clueless government believes increasing import tariffs to encourage local production/consumption is the first and best step to take when multinationals and SMEs are already closing shops and exiting the country in droves.

Yet FG budgeted over 2trillion for electricity subsidy. Which Government privatized NEPA?, Which Government embezzled $16billion power fund. Let's keep blaming an 8months old Government.

So why then do we have a government ?

The 8 months government supported an 8 years government that just finished and both of them did not improve anything with their 8 Years and 8 months....

Instead they dropped the capacity the previous government left

If 24hrs uninterrupted power supply is what Govt can give Nigerians, many of us will rate the Govt as having performed excellently.
