stay away from watching tension-soaked Super Eagles matches. What are you talking about? The bolded above is bullshit. "Tension-soaked" events can happen anytime, anywhere, any day. It's just sad what happened. May his soul rest in peace and his family and friends be comforted. |

The stupid match officials allowed us to play on and even scored another goal then they now removed it and we ended up 1-1 from 2 up. That was what really socked them to death. This was casualty number 4 already. I pray we win on Sunday to honour their deaths, they are patriotic Nigerians 3 Likes |

That means if Nigeria had eventually lost the match, death for Surplus o. only if the Government understands the benefit of sports development, they will invest heavily in sports generally. because it is a very strong unifier. just go to a viewing center during matches and see for yourself. how me and my muslim brothers go dey hug ourselves at that point. 5 Likes 1 Share |

That VAR decision to cancel Osimhen goal while they awarded a penalty to South Africa was the killing poison that claimed many Nigerian lives. I am grateful I summoned courage to walk away from the TV with a conclusion that SA have won, if not who knows what would have happened with the way my heart started racing like a locomotive engine, plus anger at the referee 3 Likes 1 Share |

As for that final, the strategy is, when you find yourself getting too emotionally invested in the Nigerian team, suddenly switch off to the opponent team, start admiring their play, even if na their jersey. Always works for me as it takes my mind off my team for a moment. Meself kukuma like that Ivorian team jersey orange colour sef , as it looks like that of the Netherlands. Obakoolex: 2 Likes |

My friends father nearly had stroke when he watching Barcelona rape arsenal 4-0 in the first half of that UCL. It was his wife that forced him into the room and we even had to unplug the TV and go watch the match elsewhere. This is a man who goes to the gym ooo 1 Like |

Very sad but why do white people don't die from heart attack like black nigerians when watching football matches? The deaths are just too much. |

I salute that your strong man Popsy. He's a proper, time tested football fan. Am sure he's not the type that watches football whenever Nigeria is playing, but also follow European club football too. The way me see this matter, it's like those people dying are mostly those wey dey only watch football whenever Nigeria is involved and are so emotional about it and can hardly deal with disappointment. tishbite43: 2 Likes |

If you know you have a HBP, pls stay away from triggers, including sports. My neighbour also died as a result of heart attack recently at the begging of AFCON. He's in his early 50s. He held his left chest and collapsed. The silent killer is much in town, no thanks to poor economic condition, poor diet, alcoholism and the likes. People, pls take care of your health. Health is wealth. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

This is bad. I figured this out earlier and stopped watching all live matches, especially that of my club Arsenal. I'd rather watch match highlights on YouTube than get angry unnecessarily over a match I don't have any personal stake. It was DSTV Facebook banter that led me to attempt watching Super eagles match of yesterday from the second half. The health effect of watching matches when one is filled with anxiety should be a thing to address. 1 Like |

FarmPlanetNG: I was so invested emotionally watching Arsenal play and lose the premier league towards the end of the season and the champions league. Also, one could not rely on the SE that I stopped watching. I read the commentaries in real time, no more live match watching. 1 Like |

This is sad. And it's not the only one. I used to be like this - shaking with cold even in warm weather - once it's Nigeria in the AFCON or Arsenal against any other team. I will not forget AFCON 1984 which Cote d'Ivoire also hosted. Nigeria scored first in the final against Cameroon, then wilted under an onslaught spearheaded by Theofile Abega and Roger Milla. I couldn't eat that night. However, the older I became, the wiser I became too. I know exactly when to distract my heart under pressure to save it from itself. I also have a Samsung S10 which I no longer use for phone. I've kept it because I can use it to monitor my cardiovascular health. It checks the stress level, including your heartbeat per minute (BPM) range. It's been very helpful. Heart health is the most important type of health. Don't ever joke with it. 4 Likes 2 Shares |
