Former Chairman of Okobo Local Government, Dr. Ubuo E. Ubuo, has expressed profound gratitude to the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for prioritizing infrastructure development in Okobo by flagging off the dualization of the 13.5km Okpoedi/Oron road by East-West Road, Phase II, with an 80-meter span bridge.

The academic Doctor and successful entrepreneur specifically hailed Governor Eno for choosing Okobo as one of the first areas for road construction within the first nine months of his administration.

Fielding questions from Newsmen at the venue of the flag-off on Tuesday, the Ekeya-born heavyweight politician declared: "With immense joy in our hearts and gratitude on our lips, I wish to extend our sincerest thanks to our Christ-centric leader and father of Akwa Ibom, His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, for bestowing upon us the invaluable gift of infrastructure development. This, indeed, is ARISE Agenda in action.

"The Governor's decision to prioritize Okobo as one of the initial beneficiaries of road construction within the nascent stages of his administration divulges his visionary leadership and deep-rooted love and concern for the welfare of our people."

Reflecting on the challenges faced before the road construction, Dr. Ubuo emphasized how difficult it was for farmers in Okobo and other road users to transport their goods to neighbouring Oron due to bad roads. He stressed that when the road is completed, it will boost the local economy as people can easily travel even to Port Harcourt via the East-West Road.

The grassroots politician who recorded superlative achievements as a Council boss assured Governor Eno of Okobo's full support for his ARISE Agenda, stating that the people hold the governor in high regard and will continue to stand by him to complete his eight-year term.

Meanwhile, the 13.5km road project, valued at 45 billion naira, to be handled by CCECC, is expected to alleviate the transportation woes of the people and pave the way for enhanced connectivity and development not just in the gateway Local Government but the entire Oro Nation.
