The 2023 Presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has called upon discontented governorship aspirants in Edo State to set aside their differences and throw their support behind the party's chosen candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

Atiku issued this plea in response to potential legal action threatened by Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, against the emergence of Ighodalo as the PDP's gubernatorial candidate in the state.

Highlighting the significance of selecting a highly skilled technocrat like Ighodalo as the party's candidate in Edo State, Atiku emphasized the PDP's commitment to ensuring that the next governor aligns perfectly with the responsibilities at hand.

Sharing his perspective on X, Atiku expressed, "The PDP leadership and members in Edo State deserve commendation for conducting an exceptional primary election that yielded a candidate of high caliber to represent our party in the upcoming election."

"The party has made its decision, and there is no doubt that it is a sound one. Therefore, I earnestly urge all other aspirants and concerned stakeholders to reconcile and engage in dialogue to safeguard PDP's standing in Edo State."

Atiku continued, "Dr. Asue Ighodalo, aside from being a brilliant individual, is a person whose capable hands can navigate the affairs of Edo State with stability. Let us work together to ensure that Edo remains a stronghold for the PDP.
