The ijaw culture does not have that strict rule that you must pay a bride price for a woman you had an affair and you eventually had a child out of wedlock, if that daughter want to marry the father has full right to collect the bride price because the family of the woman is fully aware that he is the father of the girl they are about to marry. It is only done in other cultures like the Ibos and other cultures where marriage and dowries are paid heavily that they kind of deny a lover from taking bride price if no dowry is paid on the mother.
