Discrimination is everywhere and has always existed among human beings from the beginning of time and will continue to do so till the world ends.
It is even more prevalent among people of the same race. Just look at the rubbish tribal slurs that are bandied about daily, on Nairaland.
The problem is that, in interracial societies, usually Western ones, the 'minority races' perceive that they are on the receiving end of that discrimination and aren't happy about it. They feel that they should be enjoying 'equal rights as the member of the majority race. Some cunning politicians and social leaders, most especially the political Left have capitalized on that victim mentality and sentiment to gain power, fame and wealth for themselves.
All races discriminate both within and between each other.
If you think the whites only discriminate against blacks
Then what will we call the Hutus vs Tutsis?
The Nigerian Civil War that pitted the Igbos against the Nigerian state?
The Indian caste system.
Even you, do you treat everyone in your life equally? No. It's not just possible.

Racism is not about “whites not liking black people”.

That’s a CHILD’s definition of the term.

RACISM is a STRUCTURE of society in which one race is deliberately accorded greater rights, privileges, and benefits of a society, in relation to other races.

In such a System, the favoured group has access to the best housing, the best jobs, the best funded schools, the best healthcare, the best and most favourable treatment by law enforcement agencies, media glorification of the physical features of the favoured race, eg so called ‘white’ skin, as being the most desirable, beautiful etc etc. Media vilification and stereotyping of non favoured groups like blacks as criminals, deficient, violent etc..

This debilitatingly skewed social structure has a tragic impact on the black and brown populations, and their life chances, keeping them perpetually at the bottom of the social and economic order.

That’s what RACISM is.

The Indian caste system you mentioned is WHITE RACISM.

The Aryans from Iran invaded the black dominated India roughly 2,000 years ago, fought them for centuries and eventually conquered them, and imposed the colour based caste system. The north of India is lighter skinned than south, and of course enjoys more benefits and riches from the nation than brown and black Indians.

So RACISM IS A STRUCTURE OF SOCIETY.

At least by American standard, anyone with any amount of black blood in their system is considered black. Obama's mother is white but he's still considered black. There are many people with white fathers in the US but rhey are all considered to be black because there mother is black.
