The Cybercrime Act is a problem.

It empowers any rich person who has been dragged on social media to use the police against the people who dragged him.

If it is not struck down ASAP, many Nigerians will suffer as rich people realise how much power this law has given them.

I have faced coordinated attacks based on lies, yet I am telling you that the Cybercrime Act is a problem. It can be used against you even if you're telling the truth. The court may exonerate you eventually, but you will have a mountain of legal bills and trauma to deal with.

Cybercrime act is encroaching or in similar terrain with a social media bill that the legislature may pass later in the future. It's just a way of testing the waters.

Seun doesn't want social media to be regulated in anyway, form, or manner. That itself could be the end of Nairaland if a social media regulation bill is passed by the legislature, and that bill has a clause that the owner of the social media platform is held accountable for any content posted on it...

Some people would also see these arrests as an attack on freedom of speech.

The following incidents are still fresh in our mind.

Erisco (rich man) vs Chioma Egodi
Emeka Offor (rich man) vs Obidient Nnamdi Chude

Is there any single law for the lowly and downtrodden in Nigeria. Even palliative is selective.

Well said, Seun. That nonsense Act should be trashed as quickly as possible before more rich people exploit it. Ijelespeaks and Chioma should be freed. No to intimidation!

Lol. If not that things are typically done differently in Nigeria, Seun would have been sued several times.

The guy has been in the system long enough to know that failure to implement basic accessibility features like ARIA labels could indirectly result in human rights violations. But here, there are individuals who can quote you, and you can't quote them. It's a feature that is only available to them in a forum where every user is responsible for their posts.

He knows what he's doing.

Each case should stand on its merit. There's a real danger that someone's reputation can be destroyed through the social media.
But in the case of fake miracles, the miracle man is free to convince the court that he can indeed perform miracles.

What about carrying a banner with picture of Seun Osewa at busy junction with inscription that he is notorious fraudster who uses Nairaland as cover. Then, putting the banner on my social media account with large followers reposting it.

It is ok to not believe in miracles but do allow others who want believe to believe. It is a choice.

It is ok to accuse one publicly as long you can prove it .
In Nigeria today people get shot and tear gased for saying what they feel is right yet fellow nigerians due to obvious sentiments laugh and cheer on.
They dont get shot because they are lying they get shot because they are saying the truth.

Ijele is jobless if not he will not be trying to change what he is also guilty of supporting.

People should learn minding their business.. You must not always accuse people. For every action there is a reaction!

COMRADES, I agree with Seun on this matter, no godamn political leader should be allowed to implement any law that will regulate the social media in Nigeria because this is the only medium that connects us to our so leaders

The 'cybercrime' act only creates an avenue for policemen to make free money off Nigerians...y'all are of course too stupîd to understand what's going on

He quoted Deji Adeyanju and Serah actually involved the police in her fight with Pastor Okezie, which Ijelespeaks bought and made several claims. You should go through his thread and read carefully. The Serah is still having issues with Pastor Okezie and appears to be in deep shit as the Pastor is now fighting back.
