Meet Toyin Olajide, Nigeria’s first female airline managing director
22nd July 2018

TOYIN OLAJIDE
Our captain happens to be the first female captain in Air Peace. After flying with Air Peace for some years, she finally attained the captainship position.

Agatha Emeadi

Mrs Toyin Olajide is a bold lady of many firsts who saw to the accomplishment of Nigeria’s first “all female flight crew” when Air Peace Airline operated a round trip flight from Lagos to Abuja and finally landed at Owerri Airport in Imo State, for the first leg and a return journey to Lagos through Abuja, amid thunderous, carnival-like celebrations. The successful flight marked a milestone in Nigeria’s aviation history. She holds a First Class Honours degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos with over 20 airline industry professional certificates in her kitty.

Not surprising. 7 out of 10 female MDs of banks are Yoruba women. I don't know why most organisations especially corporate prefer Yoruba women

I hope that in the future, in the eventuality that Allen Onyema decides to run for President, you and your ilk will not brand him as "IPOB" or label him a bigot. Because na una way be that. Obi was once the S.I unit for morality, until he dared to contest for President against your lord. Today, the man has had his character assassinated by you people to the extent that those who don't even know him are wondering what he must've done wrong or who he offended. Just saying.

Allen is the kind of Igbo that should have his name on the ballot not one satanic crook soaked in bigotry from Agulu fouling the air here and there in palpable confusion.

Feed her family ko, pamper her family ni. This type of ignorant and dullardly talk exposes many of you as hustlers, yahoo boys, jobless dossers or uneducated petty traders.

She is a high level technocrat. Those in that category can literally write their own Chequers because of highest level technocratic skills worth its weight in gold to queuing employers.

If she leaves air peace now, ten job offers are likely waiting. She is even the sort competitors will always be trying to poach so it is Air Peace that is lucky to have a proven technocrat delivering for them.

Onyema would not get far if he thinks like you, Obi and most of your unsophisticated kinsmen.

Just ask USA where even racists employ very talented black folks who are the best and guaranteed to increase or improve business success.

Can a racist football coach ignore Vinicius Junior or Jamal Musiala? Only if they are planning never to win trophies and then get sacked.

My cousin is 32 and earns a £1000 a day in the UK (around 1.6 million Naira at current exchange rate) plus loads of bonuses because he is a very talented IT consultant with multiple accreditations and a loaded CV.

He actually even has an accountant as he is a contractor rather than a salaried staff. A world your sort would know nothing about because your life is about bigotry and mischief against. Yorubas you envy and feel inferior to.

Instead of coming here with idiocy daily, try to refine your mind with education. Better yourself.

You might even then pursue specialist skills that will make you too busy for you to have time for these bigoted and emptily supremacist talk you bore Nairalanders with every second of the day.

That’s an Igbo man employing a Yoruba and putting her in a top position. However, how many Yorubas can do that without recourse to tribalism?

You wrote a lengthy piece of trash!
So, you believe she is the only Nigerian or person who can handle the role? You don’t think there are many others, including Igbos or even foreigners who can do that work even better than her?

Quick question, if Allen Onyema is a Yoruba man, with all these tribal bigotry Tinubu has made worse among you guys, would he employ an Igbo to be the top management staff in his company? Even if he mistakenly do, won’t Yorubas be so pissed off?

SMH.

Yorubas are very modest . You won’t find them ‘capping’ as other do but the factual truth is that they are the most talented people, across the board, in Nigeria.

For example, google 10 richest lawyers in Nigeria and it is 10 Yorubas out of 10 with no Malami-type there. Those realities tell a story of talent those who need specialist services cannot ignore.

https://www.nairaland.com/5681348/richest-lawyers-nigeria.top-10-best

Successful people work with strict rules ordinary folks are not even aware of. They know, for example, it is competence first and accept there is no place for sentiments when chasing business success.

Go and check even Dangote’s management staff and it will be talented expatriates and highly competent Nigerians from all walks of life.

It is losers who import ethnicity into privately-owned business which is always about making logical decisions that facilitates profit and success.

lol. You’re a petty hustler so you cannot understand the rarified stratosphere some technocrats exist in because of their exclusive skillset.

Of course she is not the only Nigerian fit for the job but she is in a small group of those who have the technocratic skills to excel in the role. That’s the point.

As for your dumb question, fault Tinubu’s appointees for lack of meritorious deployment and we can talk.

Otherwise I just see the usual and expected overreaction of a people who have shouted ‘marginalization’ and ‘discrimination’, since the 1940s, simply because they are dismissive of the talent of others and feel they alone must be be in charge of everything and everyone

Lol, once again he wrote another piece of garbage, devoid of sense. It’s obvious you’re an unexposed and poorly educated juvenile. I’m currently working outside Nigeria as an expatriate, and I know in today’s world, there are lots of technocrats in every damn field. There is no position you won’t find more applicants than spaces!

That Yoruba lady is fortunate to be employed by Allen Onyema. There are lots of others both Nigerians and foreigners who can do that role even much better than her! If she has potential or is in a position to be employed by a bigger company than Airpeace, she would not hesitate to move! So, she never got a better offer!

I feel irritated when I see ignorant kids like you spewing nonsense on Nairaland.

You people like to delude yourselves. Big and multinational businesses leave no room for quota system or ethnic chauvinism in employment therefore Igbos, Yorubas or Hausa/Fulanis have no choice but to employ the best, regardless of their ethnicity,

That is the deal with Onyeama who is just doing what is best for his business.

To note Igbos are not the tolerant folks you are shamelessly trying to pass them off as, look at the apprentice system that only uses Igbo.

It is about petty trading and a level the real nature of Igbos can be visible because it is largely unregulated, untaxed and cannot be easily sanctioned.

Many Nigerians, like Aisha Yesufu, have condemned the Igbo apprentice system for it patently bigoted outlook.

I believe you people just love talking in hope you can deceive with lies, revisionism and tales at odd with reality. That is why you always wish to pretend you’re one thing yet reality shows you are the opposite entirely.

https://www.nairaland.com/6168984/igbo-apprenticeship-system-makes-people

. However, she went on to say that “Everything has it’s advantage and disadvantage and that same system has also portrayed Igbos as clannish people who only employ their own people and never assimilate”

lol. You’re the kid mate. A very unexposed one at that too. What level of service do you think this woman is rendering for you to claim she is fortunate to be employed by Air peace? You lot are not sophisticated at all.

It is like saying the Indians Dangote employs to manage his businesses are fortunate’ when the reality is that they are a crucial part of the success of Dangote’s businesses and were likely headhunted with considerable remuneration for their specialist skills.

In fact that is a good example because it shows Dangote feels those expatriates are better than anything Nigeria has to offer and therefore went in uncompromisingly to bring them here to work for him.

For his private business, Dangote prefers Indians rather than deploy his own to pay homage to quota system or ethnic chauvinism.

The way you guys talk shows why you do best at petty trading while Yorubas are far better than you at big businesses plus managing men and resources allied with merging complex components of big businesses for profit and success.
