If only that Ajaokuta steel mills are located in Onitsha, na big industry that will be very profitable. That Ajaokuta is off from most major development hubs.

First, the project was sited in Onitsha around Oweri Road which is the present Okpoko community but due to politics, it was transferred to Ajokuta. The establishment of the Nigerian Metrology Institute in Anambra State within the second Niger Bridge was the brainchild of the project

The attitude of blaming ourselves is a weapon cultivated by the West/ Oyibo and profitable to them. And, yes, ultimately we are at fault. I just wonder though how many of these so called white elephant projects listed wete handled by the Chinese?

Would Adjukuta be white elephant had the Chinese been contracted instead of the Russians?

Why can’t lawmakers pass a bill against abandoned projects without prosecuting the people that caused the failures

Add National Stadium, Surulere to it!
Why Are We like this?
Just imagine,ALL these Projects - have the Prime- Movers in Nigeria still Alive!
Some of them have passed through the National Assembly,as Members!
Ajaokuta Steel Project - awarded to the Russian and they Collected every Dollars, yet till today did not Produce a Single Iron!
Can you do that in Russia?
We are the enemies of ourselves and because we are not Patrotic and not Disciplined .
Our leaders have sold their Conscience to the Devil a long time, even though the go to Church and Mosque, there is no Consequences for their Wicked acts!
We are Fantastically Corrupt! If ALL these have transformed Nigeria,no youth will stay outside the Country?
We are not Serious at all.

I read somewhere that Onitsha was one of the places recommended by the engineer..

But somehow the project was situated at Ajaokuta

What a wastage, all these listed above were just abandoned and this present government wants the citizens to be clapping and be praising them for doing nothing, meanwhile lots of fund has been spent on them since nine years of ruling.
a simple google search would have let you know that most of those projects started during the pdp era.

These are big popular projects. If you visit each state of the country and see the total number of projects abandoned in this country, you will weep for this country.
As for me, I have no fvck to give. I just pity Niger Delta people whose lands have been destroyed and water contaminated for the money that will end in someone's pocket or projects that will never be completed.

Yes, you have points but you should be courageous enough to blame the Niger- Deltans leaders, for not making the place a Dubai of Africa because of Greed, Corruption, Envious behaviour, against one another, Selfishness instead of Selflessness.
Just look deep, some outside leaders used them to destabilise the place,as some of the sons and daughters Colluded to make the place what it is today!
Do you think the Future Youths of Niger- Deltan will be happy with what the Past and the Present Leaders, including the governors of Niger-Deltans have done to the Ordinary People of the Region- no water,no farming,so much deprivation, even Abacha ( the great looter) ,played them with their leaders being killed for nothing, yet these their leaders can't stand for Truth!
Let us look into the Mirror and who do we see their?

It is enough to attract development where it is. The people that initiated the project knew exactly what they had going on…

Nearness to raw material precedes market location on the scale of preference for siting such a factory. It is cheaper to move finished product to the market than to move the raw material to the factory for production.

Rivers state monorail project

Wike should have completed the Rivers monorail project. Instead, he went for building flyovers, because he thought that flyovers are signs of mega city. The monorail, rather, is a true symbol of mega city.

It’s not true. You can transport by water directly to Onitsha from Ajaokuta to Asaba then Onitsha. There’s a rail line that also connects to Itakpe for raw materials then backwards all the way to Ughelli and other parts of the country
It was built to specification to meet the particular need for access, with flyovers, train lines etc. it had one of the earliest overpasses in Nigeria with great road network too.
Dangote cement is not far away, Okaba coal mine is not far away, Okobo coal mine is not far away, itakpe steel raw materials is not far away and you can get any of those products across nigeria

Most people build with Dangote or BUA cement and Dangote’s location in Obajana isn’t even connected to a rail line like Ajaokuta

No 1 on that list should be democracy in Nigeria. It's an abandoned project.
Most of our politicians are just self-seeking humans and the electorates are a docile bunch.
