National burial is not based on attendance but whether the state conducted the burial.

A person that committed suicide cannot be given national burial obviously
You are only angry and peddling lies because Ojukwu disguised as a woman and fled to Ivory coast when Black Scorpion started sending Biafrian soldiers to in their amadioha in large numbers.

Don't deflect! Awolowo was not given a national burial because its against the law to honor death from suicide. Even insurance companies won't pay life insurance payout if the death is from suicide

Exactly what Ojukwu said too
When he was asked about the Niger Delta issue in Aburi instead of agreeing on how to resolve their agitation for a Region of their own he claimed they were part of Biafra

Ojukwu fled disguised as a woman. History has it that sk*lls of some Biafrian children were being crushed by his plane wheels as his escape plane took off on the runaway, and those kids ran to chase after the plane.

Where I knew Awolowo was free and fair to all was in his free education policy for Westerners which even the Igbos born and bred in Yorubaland enjoyed.

Indeed all is fair in love and war.. na who get tactics pass go win war.

The fact that Awo did not restrict this to those with Western or UPN states ancestry makes him an incredible one Nigerian statesman.

Ndigbo children did not have to be born or bred in ala Yoruba to enjoy it. They just had to make their way to ala Yoruba one day and register with an address in ala Yoruba the next day.

Just an incredible feat from an wonderful man.

Awolowo was given a national burial.
What is your definition of national burial?
Who was supposed to be there that wasn’t there?

Aikhomu as the No 2 citizen then led the federal delegation to the burial. Prior to that, Babangida and his wife led separate delegations to Ikenne. Public holiday was declared in the whole south west and the Parliament building in Ibadan was temporarily opened for his body to be received.

At the liberty stadium Ibadan, his body was received by many military governors, military and police and public.

His casket was carried on a gun carrier surrounded by soldiers..

Awolowo is well known abroad. He created the first TV station in Africa, help establish Obafemi Awolowo university whose graduates are doing outstanding things all over the world. cool

Pictures:
1. News announcing Awolowo:a first tv station in Africa
2. Awolowo with British PM
3. Awolowo and other African and world leaders take a picture with Queen Elizabeth

Even if did, who cares! The past is gone and not important.

The focus should be about now and the future.

You may spend so much time focusing on the past that you miss out on the now, and the future.

Ojukwu would have done far worse if he was in Awolowo's position and even emptied the Midwest of its food Supply after his soldiers invaded

Biafran Soldiers Broke into the food Stores and shoos in the Midwest and Cargo the food back to the East

They didn't give a damn whether the Midwest eat or not

It was Gowon that made arrangements to quickly resupply the Midwest with food

Na you dey mind those victim card playing dishonest evil criminals who need to apologize for Killing the regional leaders, truncating our true federalism and also their covetousness for other people's territories.

Because you're a retard who can't understand simple thing. Awolowo 's passport was siezed by Buhari. However, he needed the passport when he needed to go for heart surgery. When IBB took over, he went to collect his passport but it was too late. That was why Washington stated that Buhari killed Awolowo.

Don't mind these guys, o jare!

Pa Awo ( after his incarceration by the duo of Ahmadu bello & zik) on his release by Gowon, carried his aged body all the war to Enugu to dissuade Ojukwu from going to war, intimating him about the horrors of war.

Ojukwu came out the following day to tell bbc reporters that the old man was just talking platitudes.

Ojukwu wanted war and sadly, he got the war he was hankering for.

Same hatred has been passed on to Tinubu.

You missed out the part about the British role in the war and how awolowo advised Gowon to block food for millions of Biafrans . Gowon implemented and British enforced it with bombardment of food sources to Biafra .If not for British complicity, Biafra would have been a better nation today .Oji river coal power plant was generating power for SE/SS before they bombed it during the war, Most of the industries MI okpara did are still there today . Obasanjo did indigenization decree as president which basic took took ownership of local companies and handed it over to Yorubas , that killed industrialization efforts in Nigeria. Due to the policy Many foreign companies left while igbos that had industries then closed shops and went into importation. India and Pakistan were once one country but India decided to go there way when they saw Pakistan didn’t want to move forward and look at where India is today
.
You do not expect your enemies who want to defeat you at all cost to be nice you. Even Ojukwu refused to condemn Awo's actions during the war.

Why is it so difficult to accept that Awolowo wanted to secure economic advantage for his people. It might not have worked as he anticipated due to the survival instinct and innate mercantile capabilities of Igbo people. Yes, from hindsight, it looks heartless but from ethnic competition and rivalry points of view, the policy was logical as a war tool to gain advantage.

It is the same with Ikwere people seizing properties of Igbo in Port Harcourt as abandoned property to get even while properties of Igbo in Lagos and Northern Nigeria remained untouched. Today, Ikwere estate fortunes in Port Harcourt remain inferior to those of Igbo.

Mean things happen during wars. Crazy things happen in the history of every nation. Even the Pope had to apologize for certain things the Church did in the past.

The fact is that events of yesterday are supposed to guide us today dealings as we march into Tomorrow. Forward ever, backward never!
Let me educate you a little. I know your hatred for Ikwerre people as exemplified and shown towards Wike is beyond imagination.
Ikwerre land had been occupied by Igbos before and during the war. Read Elechi Amadi's Sunset in Biafra. The issue of Abandoned Property was Federal Government policy and Ikwerre people never contributed or benefitted from it. Rather it was Ikwerre people who lost their lands originally occupied by the Igbos others and particularly to the Ijaws as they had the reach during this period of Abandoned Property Saga. The Igbos were going to Enugu the capital of eastern Nigeria then to receive letter of allocation of land belonging to Ikwerre people. They would just come and show you a paper that your ancestral land they covetted had been handed over to them.
They were in charge. They would go to the bank of eastern Nigeria to receive loan to develop the land. Some of these loans weren't paid before the war broke out. At the end of the war government set up an enquiry to investigate this. Those who were yet to pay back their loans government seized the property they were developing with it. This was how most properties were declared abandoned. Those who could show prove of loan repayment were given back their property. Ikwerres weren't in the driving seat of the state then so wouldn't have influenced this or benefitted from this in any way. The Ijaws were in charge then and benefitted more to the disadvantages of the Ikwerres. Stop hating the ikwerres because of this as they didn't benefit.

1. The same buhari you are accusing and spotlighting now of being Awo's killer is the same buhari you same yoruba people made president for 8 years.

2. We are 100% sure that you yorubas would've so attacked the op of that thread and accused him of trying to cause disaffection between the yorubas and the north.

very true my brother and Nigeria in particular and black race in general are still suffering from that action because more than 50 years after they still cannot fix Nigeria due to their fear for igbos and igbos turning their backs on anything politics or government…drawing analogy from a kitchen Nigeria is like a kitchen that has the best ingredients and utensils but kept hiring cooks who cannot even boil water to run it over the years they have totally damaged that kitchen but to a competent igbo person anything about money (economy) is like a cake walk for him. If you see a 6 year old igbo boy left in the shop by the mother to go to market you can never cheat him. If you give him 1k and take 10 different items he will still give you the correct change. Only thing an igbo man has been asking is free and fair elections to be able to vote in leaders like Okpara, mbakwe, Sullivan chime, Obi, ngige etc that will make igboland look like Qatar or Johannesburg and leave the others to die in their hatefulness with the kind of leaders they deserve
