Rescuers Fail to Administer First Aid Before Hospital Transport, Resulting in Tragic Outcome

If someone is drowned in water, it is important to administer immediate first aid treatment before transporting them to the hospital. Firstly, the rescuers should carefully remove the person from the water. As soon as they bring the person out of the water, they should lay them on their back and begin the process of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

The first step is to place both hands on the person's chest, in the center between the nipples, and perform chest compressions. Press down firmly, at least 2 inches in depth, at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. This helps to stimulate the heart and blood circulation.

Next, the rescuer should tilt the person's head back and lift the chin up to open their airway. Then, they can pinch the person's nose shut and make a tight seal with their mouth over the person's mouth. By blowing into their mouth, the rescuer delivers rescue breaths to oxygenate the person's lungs.

It is also crucial to press on the person's stomach just below the ribcage with quick and forceful inward and upward thrusts. This action, called the Heimlich maneuver or abdominal thrusts, can help to expel any water or foreign objects that may be blocking the person's airway.

After performing these initial steps, it is vital to provide the person with enough space for fresh air. This can be achieved by moving them to an open area or a well-ventilated space. It is important to continue monitoring their breathing, pulse, and overall condition until professional medical help arrives.

Only trained medical professionals should decide when it is safe to transport the person to the hospital. In some cases, the person may begin breathing on their own and regain consciousness. Nonetheless, it is essential for medical professionals to assess their condition and provide further medical treatment as necessary.
