Growing Calls for Investigation into Financial Mismanagement by Wale Akintehinwa and Associates in Ondo State Ahead of Governorship Election

In the light of what is right and just, it is urgently expedient that the populace of Ondo State look before they leap in their preparation for the governorship election on Saturday 16th November,2024. In all fairness, the brilliant people of the state are not easily deceived, at least not by any external forces, but there are leopards in sheep clothes already roaming in their midst. This opinion of leopards in sheep clothes is aired by a business mogul and notable son of the soil during a media chat with some journalists.

Prince Adekunle Adeya who is popularly known as Kunle Omo Alhaja is an outstanding businessman with interest in hospitality, automobile, health, real estate, agribusiness among others. He is a notable philanthropist whose positive impacts remain in the heart of the downtrodden of the state.

Adeya called the attention of journalists to the shady ways Mr. Wale Akintehinwa conducted himself in office as the commissioner of finance under the regime of the late governor of the State Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of blessed memory. Prince Adeya argued that Mr. Akintehinwa should have submitted himself to be investigated by the relevant institutions in the country rather than presenting himself as a gubernatorial aspirant under the All-Progressives Congress.

In his view, Adeya believes that the former commissioner of finance should give a clean explanation to the minute details on how the state spent her allocation of the subsidy removal grant given to the state by the federal government.

Adeya noted that it is on record that a sum of 5 billion naira was given to the state in two installments but a larger part of it was diverted to private pulse and Mr. Former Commissioner of finance is privy to the where, when, how and who of the transactions.

And without mincing words, Mr. Akintehinwa enjoyed the inimical company of most of his colleague- commissioners especially Engr. Raimi Aminu who served as the commissioner of works under the late governor to perpetuate their heinous agenda against the state. Shouldn't they all be investigated by constituted authorities?

It would be recalled that Akintehinwa was the commissioner of finance during the tenure of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko but was asked to resign voluntarily as a sort of soft landing in the face of financial misappropriation.

Adeya went on to call the attention of the good people of Ondo State to one of the greatest atrocities ever contrived by any state government officials in Nigeria when the late governor Akeredolu was bedridden. Mr. Wale Akintehinwa was the go- to- person who appended his signature to all financial requests during the period as prompted by those who considered themselves as the core members of the late governor inner caucus. This was a crucial time for the late governor as he was battling to save his life, hence had no time to sign any documents. Akintehinwa colluded with his co -travelers, among them was Babajide Akeredolu, the late governor’s son who was the head of Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring unit to perpetuate a high level of forgery by cloning the governor 's signature. Babajide Akeredolu ought to be asked questions on his activities during his father’s tenure. As preparations are in top gear for the party primary, Akintehinwa still feels entitled to contest in the primary. Should a state like Ondo State be ever handed over to such character?
