The video below is some 10 years ago, shortly after Governor Peter Obi handed over to his successor, Willie Obiano. In the later part of the interview on Channels TV, Obi addressed the issue of the educational system in Anambra State Peter Obi said that Anambra was at the bottom of the WAEC table when he became governor, but that the state has become the best performing state in WAEC. He said that some people were just interested in putting up a few structures so they could go to the media and advertise it on front pages, as if they are doing well, while the problem remained. Rather, what he did was give the Schools the necessary support, and the Schools produced the results that gave him front page Indeed, the educational system in Anambra was bad when Obi took over, there was even a period in the previous administration that children did not go to School for a year. Obi took Anambra from the bottom list of WAEC to no 1 in WAEC nation wide. How can we believe anything coming from Peter Obi considering how he has been lying cheapishly for years. If the Anambra IGR as at 2014 that Obi was leaving office was N10bn , where did Peter Obi see the N75bn he claimed to have saved for the state? Abi, if the whole 8 years as the governor of the state, he could only increase the IGR with just N2bn, where is N75bn coming from. Anambra recorded the highest secondary and tertiary dropout rates under Obi after he jacked up school fees across all state owned institutions. Some of those unfortunate students who could not afford the new fees either relocated out of state to places like Lagos and Delta to complete their education or ended up working in the numerous beer taverns and dishonourable houses that increased under Obi's Hobbesian tenure. 4 Likes 1 Share |
