As the first tenure of LG chairmen in Ebonyi state wraps up, it is worthy and worthwhile to recount the unparalleled achievements of the Izzi LG boss, Barrister Emenike Steve who has not only outdone his peers but shines brilliantly conspicuous in his sterling duties and abilities, paving way for a second term bid.

Listed hereunder are some of his achievements;

1. Fencing of the Izzi LG headquarters at Iboko. Prior to his assumption into office, the LG was prone to insecurity as strangers wander in and about aimlessly in the headquarters. He swung into action and built fences round the headquarters to check security.
2. Reinforcement of security at various terminals of the LG headquarters.
3. Reconstruction and equipment of INEC office at the Izzi LG headquarters. Recall that there was an attack at the office where the structure and materials were burnt down.
4. Empowerment of widows whose husbands were killed during the Igbeagu crisis with cash and material gifts.
5. Establishment of businesses for some indigent widows and youths of the council.
6. He brought lasting peace to a lingering communal or village crisis to various villages of the council.
7. Distribution of fertilizers to farmers of the council to assist in raising quality crops.
8. Installation of street lights at Iziogo.
9. Installation of street lights at Offerekpe.
10. Installation of Street lights at Obvudechi axis.
11. Electrifying Iziogo and Iboko axis.
13. Installation of streetlights at Ndumbam axis
14. Installation of street lights at Inyimegu axis.
15. Distribution of hospital beds to Sudan United Mission Hospital, Onuenyim.
16. Restructuring of Sudan United Mission Hospital, Onuenyim Agbaja.
17. Repair of several disfunctional machines and equipments of the hospital.
18. Enrollment of 500 indigents of the council for National Health Insurance Scheme.
19. Building of FOB at Igbeagu.
20. Building and restructuring of Army Check Point at Igbeagu war-prone areas of the council.
21. Award of scholarship to one Amarachi, whose mother is mentally unfit and who was maltreated by his guardians, and the chairman traveled with his team to Onitsha to bring her back to Ebonyi state.
22. Assistance to those who were helpless and stranded in Lagos and in other cities of the country. He brought them home and established them.
23. Sharing of start-up capital to many youths and women who were under serious hard labor in other states.
24. Settling and bringing everlasting peace in Ottam village.
25. Settling and bringing everlasting peace in Nwogba village.
26. Settling and bringing everlasting peace in Ekebeligwe village.
27. Izzi LG scored the highest number of votes for the ruling government during the last election.
28. Payment for recovered patients who were hapless and helpless in the hospital.
29. Visitation of hospitals frequently and offsetting bills of detained construction of orthopedic centres in several villages of the council.
30. Drilling of boreholes in several villages of the council.
31. Scholarship to indigent students.
32. Scholarship to law students.
33. Settling and bringing everlasting peace at Nduoswa village.
34. Settling and bringing everlasting peace at Nduogbaga Obashi village.
35. Settling and bringing everlasting peace at Ochiohu village.
36. Settling and bringing everlasting peace in Amaechara village, amongst others.
37. The LG boss sponsored over 30 youths in Tech programs.
38. Constructions of kilometers of road from Offerekpe to Edukwachi village.
39. ⁠Construction of kilometers of road from Iziogo to Onuenyim
40. Construction of kilometers of road in other areas of the council.
41. Serve food to everyone who comes to see him every day and more.
42. He is friendly and approachable.
43. He partners with so many agencies for the good of Izzi LG council.

Giving him a second chance in office will be a way of consolidating and strengthening the good works he has started.

If LGA elections are allowed to be competitive, LGA chairmen will be doing projects.

States like Ebonyi should devolve more powers to LGA chairmen to tackle local poverty in rural areas.

It is those rural areas that give Ebonyi state high poverty, not the Abakaliki city.

More funds and power to LGA chairmen!
