President Goodluck Jonathan has promised Nigerians significant progress in 2012, assuring that his administration  will    redirect  resources hitherto put in wasteful ventures into productive ones in accordance with the Transformation Agenda.

In his
Christmas message to the country,   especially   the Christian faithful, he asked them to have faith and cooperate with his administration for the attainment of the expected developmental leap.

While wishing Nigerians happy Christmas, he said they should have faith that he will fulfil his promises especially at a time he said the entire world was celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, Jonathan said he was going to squarely face identified priority areas that would enhance the standard of living of the people as well as create jobs.

“As the country joins the rest of the world in celebrating Christmas which commemorates the fulfilment of God’s promise of the birth of a Messiah, the President assures all Nigerians that significant progress will be made in the implementation of his agenda for national transformation in the coming year.

“President Jonathan also assures the nation that under his leadership, the federal government will continue to work diligently to give full effect to its plans to redirect national resources from wasteful and unproductive areas to identified priority sectors,  including infrastructure, power supply, job creation, education, agriculture, health and social services.

“The President will continue to count on the support, cooperation and goodwill of all Nigerians as the Administration strives to quicken the pace of development across the country”, the statement said.

He  urged  the people to be in the spirit  of  love, honesty, patience, humility, selflessness and sacrifice in accordance with the dictates of the Bible for a speedy attainment of the objectives of development.
