I watched the 'mock' debate on channels TV few hours ago, even though the other participant abscond leaving only Barrister Monday Ubani to 'debate' himself.

The barrister made some points which i believes agrees with my views on the claim that the federal govt spent N1.3t plus on subsidy in just one year.

he did a simple primary school calculation based on the false info given to us on our daily fuel consumption.

We have been made to believe that the 36 states in Nigerian and the inhabitants therein consumes 35million litres of PMS daily.

In the town hall meeting in Dec 2011 CBN gov faulted the claims that we dont consume that much. The shd have been an indictment on NNPC/PPPRA if we have been a lawful country.

However lets even go by their figures of 35 million litres a day.

Total the minimum price for imported fuel is N138/litre and the price of crude oil in the last one year havent exceeded $110 dollars even till date.

simple maths says old price of N65 - N138 new price = N73 being the subsidy payed by the FG in 2011.

Pls multiply N73 by 35million litres a day which equals N2,555,000,000 being paid daily as subsidy.

then multiply N2,555,000,000 by 365 days. This comes to about N932 billion plus.

How come they claimed they spent about N1.4trillion? who collected the over N500 billion?


Today PPPRA says we consume daily fuel litres of about 23,000,000. Pls multiply this figure by N73, then by 365 days and see what it would come to for 2012.
